no partner. I testify that Muhammad is <strong>the</strong> servant <strong>of</strong> Allaah and His Rasul."<br />

Hadhrat Dimaad ?%Uii!G says that he had never heard such words from anyone<br />

before. He <strong>the</strong>n requested Rasulullaah @?@ to repeat <strong>the</strong> words, which<br />

Rasulullaah 6&% repeated twice <strong>the</strong>reafter. Hadhrat Dimaad W%!% continues<br />

<strong>the</strong> story by saying, "I asked, 'To what are you calling people?"' Rasulullaah<br />

replied, "I call people to believe in One Allaah Who has no partner. I absolve<br />

myself from worshipping idols and I testify that I am <strong>the</strong> Rasul <strong>of</strong> Allaah. 'What<br />

shall I receive if I also do <strong>the</strong> same?" asked Hadhrat Dimaad %Wj. Rasulullaah<br />

said, "You shall receive Jannah. Hadhrat Dimaad !BlZ%j exclaimed, "I testify<br />

that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship besides <strong>the</strong> one Allaah Who has no partner.<br />

I remove <strong>the</strong> idols from my neck and express that I have absolved myself from<br />

<strong>the</strong>m. I also testify that youare certainly <strong>the</strong> servant and Rasul <strong>of</strong>Allaah."<br />

Hadhrat Dimaad !.@Z@!G says fur<strong>the</strong>r, "I started living with Rasulullaah @% until<br />

I had learnt many Surahs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan. <strong>The</strong>reafter I returned to my people.<br />

Abdullaah bin Abdir Rahmaan Adawi says that Rasulullaah @f%% once dispatched<br />

an army under <strong>the</strong> command <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Ali !3GW. <strong>The</strong> army got some camels<br />

from a certain place and were taking <strong>the</strong>m along as <strong>the</strong>y went. When Hadhrat Ali<br />

+?BS&!2i found out that <strong>the</strong> camels were taken from <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Dimaad<br />

%,-, he commanded that <strong>the</strong> camels be returned.<br />

Rasulullaah Invites Hadhrat Husayn W,&@ij to<br />

Islaam, who was <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Irnraan bin<br />

Husayn g#&#j'<br />

<strong>The</strong> ~uraysh highly respected Hadhrat Husayn !&@W6. One day some members<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quraysh approached Hadhrat Husayn SW@!& and said to him, "Go to this<br />

person (Rasulullaah @%%) and speak to him on our behalf because he insults our<br />

gods." Consequently, <strong>the</strong>se members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quraysh proceeded with Hadhrat<br />

Husayn %l%W until <strong>the</strong>y reached <strong>the</strong> door <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @@'s house. When<br />

Hadhrat Husayn ?&WM sat near <strong>the</strong> door, Rasulullaah @?& said to <strong>the</strong> many<br />

people who had already ga<strong>the</strong>red <strong>the</strong>re, "Make way for <strong>the</strong> respected elder."<br />

Amongst those present was <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Husayn !E@&% whose name was<br />

Imraan ?&%I%.<br />

Hadhrat Husayn !&!SM said, 'What is happening here? <strong>The</strong> news<br />

has reached me that you insult our gods whereas your fa<strong>the</strong>r was a devout and<br />

excellent man."<br />

Rasulullaah @% replied, "0 Husayn! My fa<strong>the</strong>r and your fa<strong>the</strong>r are both in<br />

~ahannam('). 0 Husayn! Tell me how many gods you worship?" Hadhrat Husayn<br />

(I) Although this narration states that Rasulullaah @#s fa<strong>the</strong>r is in jahannam, o<strong>the</strong>r narrations<br />

make it clear that both his parents are in Jannah because both <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m totally abstained from<br />

Shirk and followed <strong>the</strong> religion <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat lbraheem m. According to <strong>the</strong> research <strong>of</strong> Haafidh<br />

Suyuti as mentioned in his articles, both <strong>the</strong> parents <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah were brought back to life<br />

and <strong>the</strong>y both accepted Imaan. <strong>The</strong> narration mentioned above recounts an incident which took<br />

place some time before this. 1
