Hadhrat Abu Dharr SGh3j pledges allegiance to<br />

Five Factors<br />

Hadhrat Abu Dharr %G&$ narrates that he pledged allegiance at <strong>the</strong> hands <strong>of</strong><br />

Rasulullaah @@ five times, that Rasulullaap :h took promises from him<br />

seven times and Rasulullaah @% made Allaah witness over him seven times that<br />

he should never fear <strong>the</strong> criticism <strong>of</strong> any critic when it concerned (<strong>the</strong><br />

Deen/commands <strong>of</strong>) Allaah.<br />

Hadhrat Abul Muthanna reports from Hadhrat Abu Dharr SCWj that Rasulullaah<br />

once called him and asked, "Do you wish to pledge allegiance in exchange<br />

for Jannah?" Hadhrat Abu Dharr WZW2j complied and stretched out his hands.<br />

Rasulullaah $$?& stipulated that he should never ask anything from anyone.<br />

When Hadhrat Abu Dharr BUB& agreed, Rasulullaah @%$ added, "Even if your<br />

whip falls from your hand you should (not ask anyone to retrieve it but) ra<strong>the</strong>r<br />

dismount and get it yourself."<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Rasulullaah @% said to Hadhrat Abu Dharr k?@@!%<br />

that after six days he should take heed <strong>of</strong> what would be said to him. On <strong>the</strong><br />

seventh day, Rasulullaah told him, "I advise you to adopt Taqwa in privacy<br />

and in public. In addition to this, when you do a wrong, immediately carry out<br />

a good deed, never ask anyone for anything even if your whip falls from your<br />

hand and never accept any trust."<br />

Hadhrat Sahl bin Sa'd %&Swj and some O<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> @Gwj pledge <strong>the</strong>ir allegiance to <strong>the</strong><br />

Injunctions <strong>of</strong> Islaam<br />

Hadhrat Sahl bin Sa'd B,W that he was with Hadhrat Abu Dharr, Hadhrat<br />

Ubaadah bin Saamit, Hadhrat Abu Sa'eed Khudri, Hadhrat Muhammad bin<br />

Maslama and a sixth Sahabi i@!%&%j when <strong>the</strong>y pledged that <strong>the</strong>y would never be<br />

affected by <strong>the</strong> criticism <strong>of</strong> any critic when it concerned (<strong>the</strong> Deen/commands<br />

<strong>of</strong>) Allaah. When <strong>the</strong> sixth person requested to be relieved <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pledge,<br />

Rasulullaah @?@ relieved him. (2)<br />

Hadhrat Ubaadah bin Saamit 4 !Z narrates that he was with a few leaders (<strong>of</strong><br />

Madinah) who pledged <strong>the</strong>ir allegiance to Rasulullaah w. He adds that <strong>the</strong>y<br />

pledged that <strong>the</strong>y would not ascribe partners to Allaah, would not steal, would<br />

not fornicate, would not kill a soul whose killing Allaah has prohibited unless it<br />

be with a warrant, would not plunder and would not be disobedient. <strong>The</strong>y were<br />

promised Jannah if <strong>the</strong>y abided by this and if <strong>the</strong>y perpetrated any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se sins,<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir decision would rest with Allaah. (3)<br />

Hadhrat Ubaadah bin Saamit B,Wj narrates that <strong>the</strong>y were with ~isulullaah<br />

when he said, "Pledge allegiance at my hand that you will not ascribe any as<br />
