<strong>The</strong> Bravery <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Abu Dujaana Simaak bin<br />

Harasha !!&3$3j' from <strong>the</strong> Ansaar<br />

Hadhrat Abu Dujaana ~,G&&++ Takes a Sword from Rasulullaah @'@ and Fulfils its<br />

Rights During <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud<br />

Hadhrat Anas @,G&j reports that Rasulullaah took hold <strong>of</strong> a sword during<br />

<strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud and announced, "Who kill take this sword from me?" When<br />

several <strong>Sahabah</strong> $BEw took <strong>the</strong> sword to have a look at it, Rasulullaah k%%<br />

said, "(I am not giving it for looking) Who will take this sword and fulfil it<br />

rights." This made everyone hesitate and it was Hadhrat Abu Dujaana Simaak bin<br />

Harasha SWW who said, "I shall take it and fulfil its rights." He <strong>the</strong>n used it to<br />

efficiently kill <strong>the</strong> Mushrikeen. (2)<br />

Hadhrat Zubayr bin Awwaam narrates that that Rasulullaah took<br />

hold <strong>of</strong> a sword during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud and announced, "Who will take this<br />

sword and fulfil its rights." It was Hadhrat Abu Dujaana Simaak bin Harasha<br />

3.EWj who said, "0 Rasulullaah $%%! I shall take it and fulfil its rights, but what<br />

are its rights?" Rasulullaah @%% <strong>the</strong>n handed <strong>the</strong> sword over to him and he left.<br />

Hadhrat Zubayr @,G5<br />

says that he followed Hadhrat Abu Dujaana B,GWj and<br />

(saw that) he destroyed everything he used <strong>the</strong> sword on. He eventually came<br />

across some Mushrikeen women at <strong>the</strong> foot <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mountain. Amongst <strong>the</strong>m was<br />

Hind who was reciting <strong>the</strong> following couplets (to incite <strong>the</strong> Mushrikeen men,<br />

which meant):<br />

"We are <strong>the</strong> daughters <strong>of</strong>prominent people<br />

Who walk on exquisite cushions<br />

We wear musk on our heads<br />

And are ready to embrace you when you arrive<br />

We shafl however separate from you ifyou flee <strong>the</strong> battlefield<br />

Separate in a manner after which <strong>the</strong>re shall be no reconciliation"<br />

When Hadhrat Abu Dujaana BGWj intended to attack her (because she was<br />

an active participant in <strong>the</strong> battle), she started calling (for help) to <strong>the</strong><br />

battlefield.'However, no one came to her assistance. He <strong>the</strong>n left her. Hadhrat<br />

Zubayr @,GW said to him, "I have been extremely impressed by everything I<br />

have seen you do besides <strong>the</strong> fact that you did not kill that woman." Hadhrat<br />

Abu Dujaana ?BGW said, "When no one responded to her call for help, I did<br />

not want <strong>the</strong> sword <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah E@@ to strike a helpless woman." (3)<br />

Hadhrat Zubayr @,WiG<br />

narrates, "During <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud, Rasulullaah @%&<br />

took hold <strong>of</strong> a sword and announced, 'Who will take this sword with its rights.'<br />

I said, 'I shall, 0 Rasulullaah W!! Rasulullaah @@ ignored me and again<br />
