Khaalid bin Waleed 3,GM to fight those Arabs who had forsaken Islaam (<strong>the</strong><br />

Murtaddeen), he instructed him to invite <strong>the</strong>m back to Islaam and to explain to<br />

<strong>the</strong>m <strong>the</strong>ir privileges and responsibilities. Hadhrat Abu Bakr wW eagerly<br />

desired that <strong>the</strong>y receive guidance and also instructed Hadhrat ~haalid bin<br />

Waleed ?&w that he should acknowledge <strong>the</strong>ir acceptance whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>y are<br />

white or black. He said that this was because <strong>the</strong> only people to be fought were<br />

those who chose to disbelieve in Allaah ra<strong>the</strong>r than believe in Him. Once a<br />

person accepted Islaam and displays sincere Imaan, <strong>the</strong>re was no way to harm<br />

him because Allaah shall judge him. Only those Murtaddeen were to be fought<br />

who do not accept <strong>the</strong> Islaam <strong>the</strong>y are invited towards.<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waked $@@ljj Gives Da'wah<br />

to <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Heera<br />

Hadhrat Saalih bin Kaysaan >3XblGSj narrates that when Hadhrat Khaalid bin<br />

Waleed 3,= arrived in Heera, <strong>the</strong> nobles <strong>of</strong> Heera accompanied by Qabeesa<br />

bin Ayaas bin Hayya Taa'ee left to meet him. Qabeesa had been appointed<br />

governor <strong>of</strong> Heera by <strong>the</strong> Kisra after Nu'maan bin Mundhir. Addressing Qabeesa<br />

and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs, Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed %Wj said, "I invite you towards<br />

Allaah and towards Islaam. If you accept, you shall be part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Muslim Ummah<br />

and shall enjoy <strong>the</strong> privileges that <strong>the</strong> Muslims enjoy and shall have to bear <strong>the</strong><br />

same responsibilities that <strong>the</strong> Muslims bear. If you refuse, you will have to pay<br />

<strong>the</strong> Jizya. If you refuse even this, <strong>the</strong>n bear in mind that I have come with people<br />

who are greedier for death than you are for life. We shall <strong>the</strong>n fight you until<br />

Allaah decides <strong>the</strong> matter between us."<br />

Qabeesa said to him, "We have no need to fight you. We shall remain as<br />

adherents to our religion and pay you <strong>the</strong> Jizya." Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed<br />

BSWj <strong>the</strong>n entered into an agreement.wiEh <strong>the</strong>m to pay seventy thousand<br />

Dirhams. (2)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed ?i&Gw said to <strong>the</strong>m, "I<br />

invite you to Islaam and to testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but <strong>the</strong><br />

One Allaah and that Muhammad @!@ is Allaah's servant and Rasul. I call you to<br />

establish salaah, to pay zakaah and to accept all <strong>the</strong> injunctions binding on <strong>the</strong><br />

Muslims. In exchange you shall enjoy <strong>the</strong> privileges that <strong>the</strong> Muslims enjoy<br />

and shall have to bear <strong>the</strong> same responsibilities that <strong>the</strong> Muslims bear." Haani<br />

asked, "If I do not accept this, <strong>the</strong>n what?" Hadhrat Khaalid 3,- replied, "If<br />

you do not accept this, you shall have to pay <strong>the</strong> Jizya by hand." "And if we refuse<br />

to do this?" was <strong>the</strong> next question. "<strong>The</strong>n," replied Hadhrat Khaalid 3Sw, "If<br />

you refuse even this, such people shall crush you underfoot to whom death is<br />

more beloved than life is to you."<br />

Haani requested, "Allow us <strong>the</strong> night to think <strong>the</strong> matter over." Hadhrat Khaalid<br />

%$3w granted <strong>the</strong> request. <strong>The</strong> next morning, Haani came back to Hadhrat<br />

Khaalid ?i&GWj and said, "We have decided to pay <strong>the</strong> Jizya. Let us now enter into<br />
