Staying Toge<strong>the</strong>r While out In Jihaad in<br />

<strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

Rasulullaah @@ Criticises Separating in Valleys<br />

and Sealing Roads<br />

Hadhrat Abu Tha'laba Khushani ~,W&.j narrates that when <strong>the</strong> Muslims camped<br />

at a valley, <strong>the</strong>y separated and dispersed. Rasulullaah @@ said, "Your<br />

separating in valleys is from Shaytaan." <strong>The</strong>reafter, whenever <strong>the</strong>y set up<br />

camp, <strong>the</strong>y would stay toge<strong>the</strong>r. (') Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration(2) adds that (<strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> @Gw stayed sd close toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>reafter that) if a sheet was thrown<br />

over <strong>the</strong>m, it would cover <strong>the</strong>m all.<br />

Hadhrat Mu'aadh Juhani $3WW narrates that he was on a certain expedition<br />

with Rasulullaah @%! when <strong>the</strong> Muslims (because <strong>the</strong>y separated) <strong>the</strong>y made <strong>the</strong><br />

camp small (making it difficult for o<strong>the</strong>rs to find space) and crowded <strong>the</strong> road (so<br />

that no one could pass). Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n sent someone to announce,<br />

"<strong>The</strong>re is no (rewards for) Jihaad for <strong>the</strong> person who makes <strong>the</strong> camp small or<br />

seals a road." (3)<br />

Standing Guard While Out in <strong>the</strong><br />

path <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

Hadhrat Sahl bin Handhaliyya !$3%!S narrates that <strong>the</strong>y marched with<br />

Rasulullaah @?@ for <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Hunayn and were marching with great speed<br />

until <strong>the</strong> afternoon. Hadhrat Sahl ?&lPMj narrates fur<strong>the</strong>r that he had completed<br />

<strong>the</strong> Zuhr salaah with Rasulullaah @?@ when a horseman came to Rasulullaah<br />

@& saying, "0 Rasulullaah @?@! I rode ahead <strong>of</strong> you and got to <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> a<br />

certain mountain where I chanced to see <strong>the</strong> Hawaazin tribe watering <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

camels <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>rs along with <strong>the</strong>ir women, <strong>the</strong>ir animals and goats. <strong>The</strong>y<br />

have all ga<strong>the</strong>red at Hunayn. Rasulullaah @&.% smiled and said, "Inshaa Allaah,<br />

that will all be booty for <strong>the</strong> Muslims tomorrow."<br />

Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n announced, "Who will stand guard over us tonight?"<br />

Hadhrat Anas bin Abi Marthad Ghanawi W,Gw said, "I will, 0 Rasulullaah m!"<br />

Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n instructed him to get mounted. When he mounted his<br />

horse and came to Rasulullaah m, Rasulullaah @$$ briefed him by saying, "Go<br />

to that ravine in front and get to <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> it. (Be vigilant as you stand guard<br />

<strong>the</strong>re and) Let not <strong>the</strong> enemy deceitfully get to you tonight." <strong>The</strong> next morning,<br />

Rasulullaah went to <strong>the</strong> place where <strong>the</strong>y performed salaah and performed<br />
