In <strong>the</strong> sky (in <strong>the</strong> "Lowhul Mahfoodh'p is (<strong>the</strong> record <strong>of</strong>) your<br />

sustenance (its time, type and quantity) and (records <strong>of</strong>l what you have<br />

been promised (<strong>of</strong> Q~yaamah). (<strong>The</strong> time for Qiyaamah has been fixed<br />

but has not been made known to man.) By <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sky and <strong>the</strong><br />

earth, this (coming <strong>of</strong> Qiyaamah) is certainly <strong>the</strong> truth just as (it is true<br />

that) you can speak. {Surah Dhaariyaat, verses 22,231<br />

hereafter, Rasulullaah @@ stood up and left. I left after him, met him and<br />

accepted Islaam."<br />

Rasblullaah @@ Invites Hadhrat Ali bin Abi Taalib<br />

Ibn Is'haaq narrates that Hadhrat Ali !BG%k% came<br />

to Rasulullaah @?@ while<br />

Rasulullaah @?% and Hadhrat Khadeeja G%W.j were performing salaah. Hadhrat<br />

Ali asked Rasulullaah m, "0 Muhammad! What is this?" "This is <strong>the</strong><br />

Deen <strong>of</strong> Allaah that He has chosen and for which He has sent His Ambiyaa. I call<br />

you towards <strong>the</strong> One Allaah Who has no partner. I call you to worship Him Alone<br />

and to renounce both Laat and Uzza." Hadhrat Ali responded by saying, "I<br />

have never heard <strong>of</strong> anything like this before. I cannot decide anything until I<br />

speak to Abu Taalib." Since Rasulullaah @@ disliked that his secret should be<br />

exposed until he made an open declaration to <strong>the</strong> people, he said to Hadhrat Ali<br />

iBWi%, "0 Ali! If you are not going to accept Islaam, keep this a secret."<br />

Hadhrat Ali !BG%k% spent <strong>the</strong> night in this condition (without telling anyone) and<br />

Allaah inspired him with <strong>the</strong> urge to accept Islaam. Early next morning, he set<br />

out to meet Rasulullaah @@. When he met Rasulullaah @@, he said, "What was<br />

it that you presented to me, 0 Muhammad?" Rasulullaah @?% replied, "That you<br />

testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but <strong>the</strong> One Allaah Who has no<br />

partner and that you renounce Laat and Uzza and absolve Him from all partners."<br />

Hadhrat Ali 3WW.j complied and accepted Islaam and would visit Rasulullaah<br />

@@ in privacy for fear <strong>of</strong> Abu Taalib. He concealed his acceptance <strong>of</strong> Islaam and<br />

did not make it known to anyone. (2)<br />

Habba Urani narrates that he once saw Hadhrat Ali ~~~ chuckle as he sat on<br />

<strong>the</strong> Mimbar (pulpit). He had never before seen Hadhrat Ali BSBW laugh in this<br />

manner that his teeth showed. Hadhrat Ali ?ZiW$&j said, "I just thought about<br />

words <strong>of</strong> (my fa<strong>the</strong>r) Abu Taalib. He arrived suddenly one day as Rasulullaah @@<br />

and I were performing salaah in <strong>the</strong> Valley <strong>of</strong> Nakhla. He asked, "0 my nephew!<br />

What are <strong>the</strong> two <strong>of</strong> you doing?" Rasulullaah @@ <strong>the</strong>n invited him to accept<br />

Islaam. Referring to <strong>the</strong> Sajdah posture, Abu Taalib <strong>the</strong>n said, '<strong>The</strong>re is no harm<br />

in what you are doing but I cannot allow my buttocks to ever rise above me".<br />

Hadhrat Ali B,Wj was chuckling at <strong>the</strong>se words <strong>of</strong> his fa<strong>the</strong>r and <strong>the</strong>n said, "0<br />

Allaah! Besides your Nabi m, no servant <strong>of</strong> this Ummah has worshipped you<br />

before me." He repeated this thrice and <strong>the</strong>n said, "I performed salaah seven<br />
