fa<strong>the</strong>r's bro<strong>the</strong>r's son, he humiliated me in Makkah and my fa<strong>the</strong>r's sister's son<br />

and bro<strong>the</strong>r-in-law is <strong>the</strong> one who made (derogatory) statements about me."<br />

When <strong>the</strong> news reachkd <strong>the</strong> two, Abu Sufyaan who had a child with him said, "By<br />

Allaah! If Rasulullaah 4%% does'not permit me (to join him), I shall have to take<br />

this child in my hands and set out with him in <strong>the</strong> wilderness until we die <strong>of</strong><br />

thirst and hunger." When Rasulullaah heard about this statement, he felt<br />

<strong>the</strong>m sorry and permitted <strong>the</strong>m to join. <strong>The</strong>y both joined <strong>the</strong> Muslims and<br />

accepted Islaam.<br />

Hadhrat Abbaas 3,GWj Encourages <strong>the</strong> Qraysh to<br />

Appeal for Amnesty<br />

When <strong>the</strong> Muslims camped at Marruz zahraan, Hadhrat Abbaas !&$&5 said, "<strong>The</strong><br />

Quraysh are destroyed! By Allaah! If Rasulullaah @@ were to enter Makkah by<br />

force before <strong>the</strong> Quraysh seek amnesty from him, it would signal <strong>the</strong> eternal<br />

destruction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quraysh." He <strong>the</strong>n mounted <strong>the</strong> white mule belonging to<br />

Rasulullaah k%% and set out towards Makkah until he reached a place called<br />

Araak, thinking that he may meet some woodcutter, someone milking an animal<br />

or anyone else who had come out for some need. He could <strong>the</strong>n inform <strong>the</strong>m <strong>of</strong><br />

where Rasulullaah m was so that <strong>the</strong>y could seek amnesty from him before he<br />

entered Makkah by force.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Incident <strong>of</strong> Abu Sufyaan with Hadhrat Abbaas<br />

and Hadhrat Umar M,-<br />

Hadhrat Abbaas B!W.&j continues to say that he was still searching for someone<br />

when he heard <strong>the</strong> voices <strong>of</strong> Abu Sufyaan and Budayl bin Waraqa, who were<br />

talking to each o<strong>the</strong>r. Abu Sufyaan was saying, "By Allaah! To this day I have<br />

never seen such a large concentration <strong>of</strong> campfires nor as large an army." Budayl<br />

bin Waraqa said, "By Allaah! <strong>The</strong>se are <strong>the</strong> campfires <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Khuzaa'ah tribe. It<br />

appears as if a war has Lit <strong>the</strong>m." Abu Sufyaan commented, "By Allaah! <strong>The</strong><br />

Khuzaa'ah tribe is smaller than this. This cannot be <strong>the</strong>ir fires and army."<br />

Recognizing <strong>the</strong> voice <strong>of</strong> Abu Sufyaan, Hadhrat Abbaas ?&Wj called out, "0 Abu<br />

Handhala!" Recognising Hadhrat Abbaas t's voice, Abu Sufyaan called out, "0 Abul<br />

Fadhl!" When Hadhrat Abbaas %ij confirmed that it was he, Abu Sufyaan<br />

asked, "May my parents be sacrificed for you! What are you doing here?" Hadhrat<br />

Abbaas ?&Wj replied, "Shame on you, 0 Abu Sufyaan! Here is Rasulullaah<br />

with <strong>the</strong> people! By Allaah! <strong>The</strong> Quraysh shall surely be destroyed!" Abu Sufyaan<br />

asked, "May my parents be sacrificed for you! What is <strong>the</strong> way out?" Hadhrat<br />

Abbaas S,- replied, "If Rasulullaah @% gets hold <strong>of</strong> you, he will surely have<br />

your head. Mount this mule with me so that I may take you to Rasulullaah<br />

to seek amnesty from him." Consequently, Abu Sufyaan's two companions<br />

returned and he mounted <strong>the</strong> mule with Hadhrat Abbaas ~,W, who speedily<br />

took him to Rasulullaah @@$.
