not mentioning any <strong>of</strong> this to my people." Rasulullaah w did not want his<br />

people to know about what had happened to him because it would embolden<br />

<strong>the</strong>m against him. However, <strong>the</strong>y would not do this and <strong>the</strong> ruffians and slaves<br />

amongst <strong>the</strong>m attacked Rasulullaah @@. <strong>The</strong>y swore and shouted at him until a<br />

large mob ga<strong>the</strong>red against Rasulullaah @@ and forced him to seek shelter in<br />

an orchard belonging to Utba bin Rabee'ah and Shayba bin Rabee'ah, who<br />

happened to be <strong>the</strong>re. <strong>The</strong> ruffians who were chasing him <strong>the</strong>n returned and<br />

Rasulullaah rn took shade under some grape vines where he sat as Utba and<br />

Shayba looked on. <strong>The</strong>y had already witnessed <strong>the</strong> treatment he had received<br />

from <strong>the</strong> Taa'if hooligans. <strong>The</strong> narrator says that among <strong>the</strong> reports he received<br />

was that Rasulullaah @@ met a woman from <strong>the</strong> Banu Jamh tribe and said to<br />

her, 'Your in-laws certainly gave me great difficulty!"<br />

<strong>The</strong> Du'aa Rasulullaah made after Leaving<br />

Taa'if<br />

Once Rasulullaah @% felt that he was safe from <strong>the</strong> Taa'if mob, he made <strong>the</strong><br />

following du'aa:<br />

'<br />

TRANSLATION: "O Allaah! Only to you do I communicate my weakness,<br />

my lack <strong>of</strong> ingenuity and lack <strong>of</strong> importance among people. 0 <strong>the</strong> most<br />

Merciful <strong>of</strong> those who show mercy, You are certainly <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

weak and You are my Rabb. To whom shall you hand me over? To an<br />

enemy who will treat me harshly or to a near one to whom You shall<br />

give control over me? If You are not angry with me, I care for nothing.<br />

All I require is that Your protection should be vast enough for me. In<br />

<strong>the</strong> light <strong>of</strong> Your Countenance by which multitudes <strong>of</strong> darkness are<br />

turned to light and by which <strong>the</strong> affairs <strong>of</strong> this world and <strong>the</strong> Aakhirah<br />

are remedied, I seek protection from being afflicted by Your wrath and<br />

displ'easure. <strong>The</strong> causes <strong>of</strong> Your displeasure should be removed until<br />

You are pleased. <strong>The</strong>re is no power and no might but with Allaah."<br />

Testifies that Rasulullaah @$% is Certainly <strong>the</strong><br />

Rasul <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

When Utba and Shayba, <strong>the</strong> two sons <strong>of</strong> Rabee'ah saw what had happened to
