Gives Da'wah to his People<br />

<strong>The</strong> Dream Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah a,E#j&j' had<br />

About <strong>the</strong> Risaalat <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @@<br />

Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah S,Gw narrates that he once performed Hajj with a<br />

group <strong>of</strong> his people during t.he Period <strong>of</strong> Ignorance. While in Makkah he had a<br />

dream in which he saw a light rising from <strong>the</strong> Kabah which extended its<br />

illumination to <strong>the</strong> mountains <strong>of</strong> Yathrib (now called Madinah) and <strong>the</strong> Ash'ar<br />

mountains in <strong>the</strong> region <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Juhayna tribe. He also heard a voice in <strong>the</strong> light<br />

saying, "Darkness has been dispersed, light has spread and <strong>the</strong> seal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Ambiyaa has been sent." He <strong>the</strong>n saw ano<strong>the</strong>r light which illuminated for him<br />

<strong>the</strong> palaces <strong>of</strong> Heera and white buildings <strong>of</strong> Madaa'in. He again heard a voice in<br />

<strong>the</strong> light which said, "Islaam has become manifest, <strong>the</strong> idols are destroyed and<br />

family ties are fostered." He <strong>the</strong>n woke up with a fright and said to his people, "By<br />

Allaah!- Something astounding is going to take place amongst <strong>the</strong> tribe <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Quraysh." He <strong>the</strong>n related <strong>the</strong> dream to <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah B4t3@&3 Meets<br />

Rasulullaah and Accepts Islaam<br />

When Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah B,G= reached his locality, <strong>the</strong> news reached<br />

him that a person called Ahmad has been sent as a Rasul. He left home and came<br />

to Rasulullaah @@. When he informed Rasulullaah about his dream,<br />

Rasulullaah @% said, "0 Amr bin Murrah! I am <strong>the</strong> Msul <strong>of</strong> Allaah sent to all<br />

<strong>of</strong> mankind. I invite you to Islaam and command you to protect life, to foster<br />

good family ties, to worship Allaah Alone, to forsake idols, to perform Hajj to <strong>the</strong><br />

Kabah and to fast during Ramadhaan which is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> twelve months <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

year.' Whoever accepts this shall have Jannah and whoever disobeys shall have<br />

<strong>the</strong> fire <strong>of</strong> Jahannam. Accept Imaan, 0 Amr bin Murrah and Allaah shall rescue<br />

you from <strong>the</strong> terror <strong>of</strong> Jahannam."<br />

Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah !&@%!&j said, "I testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong><br />

worship but Allaah and that you are Allaah's Rasul. I believe in everything Halaal<br />

and Haraam that you have brought even though a great number <strong>of</strong> people reject<br />

it. <strong>The</strong> tribe <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah W3W had an idol and it was his fa<strong>the</strong>r<br />

who tended to it. However, Hadhrat Amr bin Murrah 3,w broke <strong>the</strong> idol before<br />

coming to meet Rasulullaah m. (After accepting Islaam,) Hadhrat Amr bin<br />

(I) Ibn Is'haaq, Ahrnad and Abu Dawood as quoted in A1 Bidaaya wan Nihaaya (Vo1.5 Pg.60). Haakim<br />

has also reported it in his Mustadrak ('01.3 Pg.54) with commentary. Imaam Dhahabi has ve~ified<br />

<strong>the</strong> au<strong>the</strong>nticity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> narration.<br />
