Next followed <strong>the</strong> Aslam tribe. <strong>The</strong>y comprised <strong>of</strong> four hundred soldiers and bore<br />

two flags. One was carried by Hadhrat Buraydah bin Husayb 9-j while<br />

Hadhrat Naajiya bin A'jam ~ ,W carried <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r. <strong>The</strong>y also called out<br />

"Allaahu Akbar!" thrice as <strong>the</strong>y passed Abu Sufyaan. Abu Sufyaan asked, "Who<br />

are <strong>the</strong>y, 0 Abul Fadhl?" "That 4s <strong>the</strong> tribe <strong>of</strong> Aslam," replied Hadhrat Abbaas<br />

!&W@!%. "What have I to do with <strong>the</strong> Aslam tribe?" responded Abu Sufyaan, "<strong>The</strong>re<br />

has never been any dispute between us." Hadhrat Abbaas 4- said to him,,<br />

"<strong>The</strong>y are a nation who have entered <strong>the</strong> fold <strong>of</strong> Islaam."<br />

<strong>The</strong>reafter, five hundred men belonging to <strong>the</strong> Banu Ka'b bin Amr tribe passed by<br />

with Hadhrat Bishr bin Shaybaan Saw carrying <strong>the</strong>ir flag. Abu Sufyaan asked,<br />

"Who are <strong>the</strong>y?" "<strong>The</strong>y are <strong>the</strong> Ka'b bin Amr tribe," replied Hadhrat Abbaas MM. "U b<br />

yes," acknowledged Abu Sufyaan, "<strong>the</strong>y are <strong>the</strong> allies <strong>of</strong> Muhammad m." <strong>The</strong>y<br />

also procalimed "Allaahu Akbar!" thrice as <strong>the</strong>y passed Abu Sufyaan.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Muzayna tribe passed next. <strong>The</strong>y were a thousand strong who included a<br />

hundred horsemen and <strong>the</strong>y carried three flags. <strong>The</strong>ir flag bearers were Hadhrat<br />

Nu'maan bin Muqarrin, Hadhrat Bilaal bin Haarith and Hadhrat Abdullaah bin<br />

Arnr W,-. <strong>The</strong>y also cried "Allaahu Akbar!" thrice as <strong>the</strong>y passed Abu Sufyaan.<br />

Abu Sufyaan asked, "Who are <strong>the</strong>y?" "That is <strong>the</strong> Muzayna tribe," replied Hadhrat<br />

Abbaas WiW. "What have 1 to do with <strong>the</strong> Muzayna tribe?" responded Abu<br />

Sufyaan, "<strong>The</strong>y have also come to me from <strong>the</strong> peaks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir mountains with<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir weapons clattering."<br />

<strong>The</strong> Juhayna tribe passed next with <strong>the</strong>ir leader. <strong>The</strong>y consisted <strong>of</strong> eight hundred<br />

soldiers and bore four flags. <strong>The</strong>re was a flag with Hadhrat Abu Zur'ah Ma'bad bin<br />

Khaalid BWj, ano<strong>the</strong>r with Hadhrat Suwayd bin Sakhr, a third with Hadhrat<br />

Raafi bin Makeeth !&Z@!% and <strong>the</strong> fourth with Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Badr<br />

!W4%. <strong>The</strong>y also cried "Allaahu Akbar!" thrice as <strong>the</strong>y passed Abu Sufyaan.<br />

<strong>The</strong>reafter, came <strong>the</strong> Kinaana tribe that consisted <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banu Layth, <strong>the</strong> Banu<br />

Dhamra and Banu Sa'd bin Bakr families. <strong>The</strong>y numbered two hundred and<br />

Hadhrat Abu Waaqid Laythi SWi% bore <strong>the</strong>ir flag. <strong>The</strong>y also cried "Allaahu<br />

Akbar!" thrice as <strong>the</strong>y passed Abu Sufyaan. Abu Sufyaan asked, "Who are <strong>the</strong>y?"<br />

'That is Banu Bakr tribe," replied Hadhrat Abbaas @.=. Abu Sufyaan said, "Oh<br />

yes! By Allaah! <strong>The</strong>y are a tribe <strong>of</strong> misfortune. It is because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m that<br />

Muhammad &?% is attacking us. Swear by Allaah that <strong>the</strong>y (<strong>the</strong> Quraysh) did<br />

not consult with me and I had no knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> matter. When <strong>the</strong> news <strong>of</strong><br />

what happened reached me, I was most disgusted. Never<strong>the</strong>less, <strong>the</strong> matter was<br />

predestined." Hadhrat Abbaas %%&!% said to Abu Sufyaan, "Allaah has destined good<br />

inthis<strong>of</strong>fensive<strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @#% against you as you all enter <strong>the</strong> fold <strong>of</strong> Islaam."<br />

Waaqidi has mentioned that he was informed by Abdullaah bin Aamir who<br />

narrates from Abu Amr bin Himaas that <strong>the</strong> Banu Layth marched all by<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves. <strong>The</strong>y numbered two hundred and fifty and Hadhrat Sa'b bin<br />

(I) ARer <strong>the</strong> Treaty <strong>of</strong> Hudaybiyyah, <strong>the</strong> Banu Bakr tribe struck up an allegiance with <strong>the</strong> Quraysh<br />

while <strong>the</strong> Banu Khuzaa'ah aligned with <strong>the</strong> Muslims. However, a joint attack on <strong>the</strong> Banu<br />

Khuzaa'ah by <strong>the</strong> Banu Bakr and <strong>the</strong> Quraysh led to <strong>the</strong> annulment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Treaty, allowing <strong>the</strong><br />

Muslims <strong>the</strong> opportunity to march on to Makkah. Abu Sufyaan was referring to this incident.<br />
