and Groups to Give Da'wah<br />

Hadhrat Hishaam bin A1 Aas $3!3&3j and o<strong>the</strong>rs are<br />

sent to Heraklius<br />

Hadhrat Hishaam bin A1 Aas Umawi W%W narrates that (during <strong>the</strong> Khilaafah <strong>of</strong><br />

Hadhrat Abu Bakr SWj) he and ano<strong>the</strong>r person wqe sent with <strong>the</strong> invitation to<br />

Islaam to Heraclius <strong>the</strong> Emperor <strong>of</strong> Rome. He says that when <strong>the</strong>y arrived at<br />

Ghowtha meaning Damascus, <strong>the</strong>y went to see Jabala bin Ayham Ghassaani who<br />

happened to be lying on his bed at <strong>the</strong> time. He sent a messenger to speak to<br />

<strong>the</strong>m. When <strong>the</strong> messenger came, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> iiZ3W4 said, "By Allaah! We shall<br />

never speak to a messenger for we have been sent to see <strong>the</strong> king. If he grants<br />

permission, we shall speak to him but not to a messenger." When <strong>the</strong> messenger<br />

returned to <strong>the</strong> king with <strong>the</strong> news, he permitted <strong>the</strong>m to enter and to speak.<br />

Hadhrat Hishaam bin A1 Aas spoke to him and invited him to accept<br />

Islaam.<br />

<strong>The</strong> king was wearing black clothing. When Hadhrat Hishaam bin A1 Aas l;irSw<br />

asked him why he was dressed in that manner, he replied, "I have vowed never to<br />

remove this clothing until I expel you from Shaam." <strong>The</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> B,W said to<br />

him, "By Allaah! We shall soon be taking from you this place where you sit and<br />

we shall also be taking <strong>the</strong> kingdom <strong>of</strong> your high emperor (Heraclius), Inshaa<br />

Allaah! Our Rasul Muhammad @@ has informed us <strong>of</strong> this." <strong>The</strong> king said, 'You<br />

are not those people. <strong>The</strong>y will be people who fast during <strong>the</strong> day and stand in<br />

worship during <strong>the</strong> night." <strong>The</strong> narration continues fur<strong>the</strong>r and will Inshaa Allaah<br />

be quoted in <strong>the</strong> chapter dealing with <strong>the</strong> help received from <strong>the</strong> unseen.<br />

Hadhrat Moosa bin Uqba narrates that Hadhrat Hishaam bin A1 Aas ?BSWj,<br />

Hadhrat Nu'aym bin Abdillaah %WBkj and ano<strong>the</strong>r person whom <strong>the</strong> narrator did<br />

name were sent to <strong>the</strong> Emperor <strong>of</strong> Rome during <strong>the</strong> Khilaafah <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Abu<br />

Bakr $B3W+j. Hadhrat Hishaam ?&83W$ says, ''We came to Jabala bin Ayham who<br />

was in Damascus and noticed that he was wearing black and that everything<br />

around him was black. He said,"You may speak, 0 Hishaam."' Hadhrat Hishaam<br />

S!3&5 <strong>the</strong>n spoke to him and invited him towards Allaah. <strong>The</strong> Hadith proceeds<br />

in detail as will be quoted ahead. (2)<br />

Towards Allaah and Islaam<br />

Hadhrat Ziyaad bin Haarith Sudaa'ee %$%W Sends<br />

a Letter to his People<br />

Hadhrat Ziyaad bin Haarith Sudaa'ee 4Sl!3@j narrates that he met Rasulullaah<br />

subheading "Rasulullaah @@ dispatches Hadhrat Abu Umaamah ?&@@23 to his people <strong>the</strong><br />

Baahilah tribe".<br />
