Hadhrat Anas S,Bw narrates that Hadhrat Ummu Sulaym WGW and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

women <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ansaar would march with Rasulullaah @.?@ on military<br />

expeditions. <strong>The</strong>ir function was to provide water and tend to <strong>the</strong> wounded. (I)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Services <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Rubayyi Bint Mu'awwidh<br />

Hadhrat Ummu Atiyya @E@$5 and Hadhrat<br />

Layla Ghifaariyya WE@= in Jihaad<br />

Hadhrat Rubayyi Bint Mu'awwidh<br />

reports that when <strong>the</strong>y (women) were<br />

with Rasulullaah &?@ on military expeditions, <strong>the</strong>y would provide water (for <strong>the</strong><br />

soldiers), treat <strong>the</strong> wounded and retrieve <strong>the</strong> bodies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dead. (2) Ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

narration <strong>of</strong> Bukhari quotes that she said, "We (women) would proceed on<br />

military expeditions with Rasulullaah @% where we would fetch water for <strong>the</strong><br />

people, serve <strong>the</strong>m and return <strong>the</strong> dead and wounded to Madinah (when <strong>the</strong><br />

battlefield was close to Madinah)." (3)<br />

Hadhrat Ummu Atiyya li'B3&% who was from <strong>the</strong> Ansaar says, "I accompanied<br />

(<strong>the</strong> army 00 Rasulullaah @?%$ on seven military expeditions. I would stay<br />

Behind in <strong>the</strong>ir camp preparing food for <strong>the</strong>m, nursing <strong>the</strong>ir wounded and<br />

tending to those with various diseases." (4)<br />

- Hadhrat Layla Ghifaariyya narrates, "I used to proceed on military<br />

expeditions with Rasulullaah to nurse <strong>the</strong> wounded." (5)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Services <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Aa'isha ~GN&j, Hadhrat<br />

Ummu Sulaym and Hadhrat Ummu Saleet<br />

@GWj During <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud<br />

Hadhrat Anas SB3W says, "When <strong>the</strong> Muslims suffered some defeat during <strong>the</strong><br />

Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud and were unable to stay with Rasulullaah m, I saw Aa'isha<br />

Ci8WM <strong>the</strong> daughter <strong>of</strong> Abu Bakr iBW and Ummu Sulaym @CW with <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

shawls folded high (to allow free movement). I could see <strong>the</strong>ir ankle bracelets as<br />

<strong>the</strong>y ran with water bags." Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that <strong>the</strong> two <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m were<br />

carrying water bags on <strong>the</strong>ir backs, emptying <strong>the</strong> water into <strong>the</strong> mouths <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

wounded and <strong>the</strong>n returning to refill <strong>the</strong>m. <strong>The</strong>y <strong>the</strong>n again returned to empty<br />

<strong>the</strong> water into <strong>the</strong> mouths <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> injured.(6)<br />

Hadhrat Tha'laba bin Abu Maleek that Hadhrat Umar SGW was<br />

once distributing some cloth amongst <strong>the</strong> women <strong>of</strong> Madinah. When a single<br />

good cloth was still left over, some people with him said, "0 Ameerul<br />
