land in Shaam. Hadhrat Umar %,w <strong>the</strong>refore took <strong>the</strong> land away from him and<br />

gave it to someone else saying, "You have taken <strong>the</strong> disgrace and humiliation<br />

from <strong>the</strong> necks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se prominent people and placed it on your neck." (')<br />

Rebukes a man who Neglected Jihaad<br />

Hadhrat Yahya bin Abi Amr shaybaani narrates that a group <strong>of</strong> people from<br />

Yemen once passed by Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr bin Al Aas ~,-. <strong>The</strong>y asked<br />

him, "What is your comment about a person who accepts Islaam in a most<br />

beautiful fashion, <strong>the</strong>n undertakes Hijrah in a most perfect manner and also<br />

wages Jihaad most superbly. However, he <strong>the</strong>n returns to his parents in Yemen to<br />

serve <strong>the</strong>m and to care for <strong>the</strong>m." Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr bin A1 Aas S=<br />

asked <strong>the</strong>m, "What is your comment on such as person?" <strong>The</strong>y replied, "In our<br />

opinion, he has turned back on his heels."<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr bin Al Aas %,%I%<br />

corrected <strong>the</strong>m saying, "In fact, this<br />

person shall be in Jannah. Let me tell you <strong>of</strong> someone who has turned back on<br />

his heels. He is a man who accepts Islaam in a most beautiful fashion, <strong>the</strong>n<br />

undertakes Hijrah in a most perfect manner and also wages Jihaad most<br />

superbly. However, he <strong>the</strong>n goes to <strong>the</strong> land <strong>of</strong> a non-Muslim farmer in Shaam<br />

and takes over <strong>the</strong> land toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> Jizya that was being paid and <strong>the</strong><br />

monthly quota <strong>of</strong> produce which is given to <strong>the</strong> Muslim state. <strong>The</strong>reafter, he<br />

develops <strong>the</strong> land and forsakes Jihaad. This man is one who has turned back<br />

on his heels." (21<br />

Moving Urgently in <strong>the</strong> Path <strong>of</strong> Allaah to<br />

Uproot Strife<br />

<strong>The</strong> Expedition <strong>of</strong> Muraysee<br />

Hadhrat Jaabir bin Abdullaah %i@j narrates that <strong>the</strong>y (<strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> '&!S&kj)<br />

were once on an expedition when someone from <strong>the</strong> Muhaajireen punched<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r Sahabi from <strong>the</strong> Ansaar on <strong>the</strong> back. When <strong>the</strong> Ansaari called <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Ansaar for help, <strong>the</strong> Muhaajir called for <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r Muhaajireen to help him as<br />

well. When ~ asulullaah~ heard this, he exclaimed, "What are <strong>the</strong>se calls <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Period <strong>of</strong> Ignorance?" When <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> ~~2 informed Rasulullaah@@ that<br />

a Muhaajir had punched an Ansaari, Rasulullaah@% said, "Forget <strong>the</strong>se talks for<br />

<strong>the</strong>y are foul-smelling."<br />

When Abdullaah bin Ubay (<strong>the</strong> leader <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Munaafiqeen) heard about this, he<br />

commented, "Are <strong>the</strong>y (<strong>the</strong> Muhaajireen) doing this? By Allaah! If we return to<br />

Madinah, <strong>the</strong> honourable ones among us (<strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Madinah) shall certainly<br />

exile <strong>the</strong> humiliated ones (<strong>the</strong> Muhaajireen)." When <strong>the</strong> news <strong>of</strong> this statement<br />

reached ~asulullaahrn, Hadhrat Umar BGw stood up and said, "0<br />
