Spending While in Jihaad in <strong>the</strong> Path <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

<strong>The</strong> Spending <strong>of</strong> Some <strong>Sahabah</strong> '@GW3<br />

<strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Path<br />

Hadhrat Abu Mas'ood Ansaari 9,Gw narrates that a man came with a reined<br />

camel and said, "(I am donating) This camel in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah." Rasulullaah<br />

@& said, "You shall have seven hundred camels in exchange for it on <strong>the</strong> Day <strong>of</strong><br />

Qiyaamah. Each one <strong>of</strong> those will also have reins." ('I<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Saamit narrates, "I was with Hadhrat Abu Dharr %$3&<br />

when he received his allowance (from <strong>the</strong> state treasury). Hadhrat Abu Dharr<br />

WWj had his slave girl with him, who started paying <strong>of</strong>f all his expenses (with<br />

<strong>the</strong> money). Only seven Dirhams were left over, which he instructed her to<br />

convert into change. I said to him, '(Wouldn't it be better) If you kept it back for a<br />

need that may arise or for a guest that may come to you?' He replied, 'My beloved<br />

friend (Rasulullaah m) advised me saying, 'Any gold or silver that is tied up in a<br />

bag (put away for <strong>the</strong> future) is live coal for its owner until he spends it in <strong>the</strong><br />

path <strong>of</strong> Allaah."'<br />

A narration <strong>of</strong> Ahmad and Tabraani states that Rasulullaah @% said, "When a<br />

person ties gold or silver in a bag and does not spend it in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah, it<br />

will be live embers on <strong>the</strong> Day <strong>of</strong> Qiyaamah which will be used to brand him." (')<br />

Hadhrat Qais bin Sala Ansaari B.Gw narrates that his bro<strong>the</strong>rs laid a complaint<br />

(against him) before Rasulullaah &%% when <strong>the</strong>y alleged that he wasted his<br />

wealth and gave out plenty. However, Hadhrat Qais SBWj said, "0 Rasulullaah<br />

m! I take only my share <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dates and spend it in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah and on<br />

those in my company." Rasulullaah @@ <strong>the</strong>n placed his hand on <strong>the</strong> chest <strong>of</strong><br />

Hadhrat Qais 3,Gw and thrice said, "Spend and Allaah will spend on you."<br />

Hadhrat Qais 3,GWj says, "<strong>The</strong>reafter I always had transport when I went out in<br />

<strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah and today I am <strong>the</strong> wealthiest person in my family (because <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> blessings <strong>of</strong> spending in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah)." (3)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rewards <strong>of</strong> Spending in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

Hadhrat Mu'aadh bin Jabal 9,G= narrates that Rasulullaah said, "Glad<br />

tidings for <strong>the</strong> person who abundantly engages in <strong>the</strong> Dhikr 9f Allaah while out in<br />

Jihaad in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah because for every word he shall receive <strong>the</strong> rewards<br />

<strong>of</strong> seventy thousand good deeds. <strong>The</strong> reward for each one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se good deeds<br />

shall be multiplied ten times toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> extra that (he will receive which) is<br />

with Allaah." Someone asked, "0 Rasulullaah m! And (what about) spending<br />

(in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah)?" Rasulullaah @g replied, "Spending is (rewarded)<br />

likewise."<br />
