Encouraging People to Proceed in <strong>the</strong><br />

path <strong>of</strong> Allaah and Seeing <strong>the</strong>m Off<br />

Rasulullaah<br />

Walks with <strong>the</strong> Mujaahideen and<br />

Advises <strong>the</strong>m<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Abbaas reports that Rasulullaah walked with<br />

<strong>the</strong>m up to Baqee Gharqad when he sent <strong>the</strong>m <strong>of</strong>f on an expedition. He <strong>the</strong>n<br />

said to <strong>the</strong>m, "Proceed in <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> Allaah. 0 Allaah! Assist <strong>the</strong>m." ('I<br />

When Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Yazeed BGw was once invited for a meal, he<br />

mentioned to <strong>the</strong> people that whenever Rasulullaah &@% bade Tarewell to an<br />

army, he prayed, "In Allaah's care do I hand over your Deen, your trusts and <strong>the</strong><br />

results <strong>of</strong> your deeds." (')<br />

Hadhrat Abu Bakr s,G&5 Sees <strong>the</strong> Army <strong>of</strong><br />

Hadhrat Usaama %@3&3j <strong>of</strong>f<br />

In a narration discussing <strong>the</strong> dispatching <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Usaama ?3C='s army,<br />

Hadhrat Hasan B,- narrates that Hadhrat Abu Bakr WGWj left his home to<br />

meet <strong>the</strong> army. As he saw <strong>the</strong>m <strong>of</strong>f, Hadhrat Abu Bakr W,- was walking<br />

while Hadhrat Usaama !3!3BG rode his animal. In <strong>the</strong> meanwhile, Hadhrat<br />

Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf %Gm was leading Hadhrat Abu Bakr %,W3s animal<br />

along. Hadhrat Usaama %,GW% said, "0 Khalifah <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah w! Ei<strong>the</strong>r you<br />

ride or I shall dismount." Hadhrat Abu Bakr %3GhE instructed, "By Allaah! Nei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

should you dismount nor shall I ride! What harm can <strong>the</strong>re be if my feet get dusty<br />

for a while in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah? A person proceeding in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah<br />

receives <strong>the</strong> reward <strong>of</strong> seven hundred good deeds for every step he takes. In<br />

addition to this, his status is elevated by seven hundred degrees and seven<br />

hundred <strong>of</strong> his sins are forgiven." After Hadhrat Abu Bakr %X%?% had seen <strong>the</strong>m<br />

<strong>of</strong>f, and was returning, he requested, "If you deem it appropriate to assist me<br />

with (leaving) Hadhrat Umar B,w (behind with me in Madinah), please do so."<br />

Hadhrat Usaama W41& <strong>the</strong>n allowed Hadhrat Umar B,W to stay back. (3)<br />

Hadhrat Yahya bin Sa'eed reports that when Hadhrat Abu Bakr BaW dispatched<br />

several armies to Shaam, he walked with Hadhrat Yazeed bin Abu Sufyaan<br />

!&GWj who was in command <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four armies. Hadhrat Yazeed %@,&j<br />

said to Hadhrat Abu Bakr !&,-, "Ei<strong>the</strong>r you ride or I shall dismount." Hadhrat<br />

Abu Bakr %,- instructed, "By Allaah! Nei<strong>the</strong>r will you dismount nor shall I<br />

ride! I hope to be rewarded for <strong>the</strong>se steps in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah." (4)<br />

Hadhrat Jaabir Ru'ayni %,Cw narrates that as Hadhrat Abu Bakr %,W was<br />

walking as he saw an army <strong>of</strong>f. He <strong>the</strong>n said to <strong>the</strong>m, "All praises are for Allaah<br />

Who has allowed our feet to accumulate dust in His path." Someone asked, "How<br />
