To Rustay, Mahraan and <strong>the</strong> Persian leadership<br />

Peace be on those who follow <strong>the</strong> guidance. i<br />

We invite you to accept Islaam. should you refuse, you may pay <strong>the</strong><br />

by hand as subjects. ~f you refuse even this, <strong>the</strong>n I have people<br />

&th me who love to be killed while fighting in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah more<br />

than you Persians love wine.<br />

Peace be on those who follow <strong>the</strong> guidance.<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed %Ei@ Writes to <strong>the</strong><br />

People <strong>of</strong> Madaa'in<br />

Hadhrat Sha'bi >W&lGj narrates that Banu Buqayla read to him <strong>the</strong> letter that<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed WBl3&% wrote to <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Madaa'in. It read:<br />

From Khaalid bin Waleed<br />

To <strong>the</strong> Persian leadership<br />

Peace be on those who follow <strong>the</strong> guidance.<br />

All praises belong to Allaah Who has fragmented your unity, taken away<br />

your kingdom and weakened your plans. Take note that whoever<br />

performs our salaah, faces our Qibla and eats what we slaughter, he is<br />

a Muslim who shall enjoy <strong>the</strong> privileges we have and also bear <strong>the</strong><br />

responsibilities we bear.<br />

After this I wish to add that when this letter reaches you, you should<br />

send securities to me (to ratify our peace agreement) and you may rest<br />

assured that I shall give you. your protection. O<strong>the</strong>wise, I swear by. <strong>the</strong><br />

Being besides Whom <strong>the</strong>re is no o<strong>the</strong>r deity that I shall dispatch against<br />

you people who love death as you love life.<br />

When <strong>the</strong> Persians in <strong>the</strong> Madaa'in district read this letter, <strong>the</strong>y were taken aback.<br />

This occurred in <strong>the</strong> year 12 A.H.<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed !?BGw Writes to Hwrmwz<br />

Imaam Sha'bi 7W&lw says(') that Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed B,Gm wrote a<br />

letter to Hurmuz before he left with Uzaadhiba <strong>the</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Ziyaadhiba, who was<br />

from Yamaamah. In those days, Hurmuz was'in charge <strong>of</strong> defending <strong>the</strong> Persian<br />

borders. <strong>The</strong> letter read:<br />

Accept Islaam and you dl remain safe. O<strong>the</strong>rwise you may subject yourself<br />

and yow people to our protection and accept to pay <strong>the</strong> Jizy. If not, you ha ye<br />

none but yourself to blame for I shall march @th people who love death as<br />
