A Spanish noun (singular case and context) ending with the letter e, l, o, r or s is masculine. A handy<br />

Nouns ending in the letter n are also masculine, unless ending with ión.<br />

For example, <strong>de</strong>pleción, fricción, and lubricación are feminine nouns.<br />

A singular noun ending in the letter d, y or z is feminine. A handy acronym is<br />

Nouns ending in the letter a are also female, unless the word is <strong>de</strong>rived from Greek and ends with –ma.<br />
