Die Juden und das Dritte Reich

Lieber Dr. Weizmann, - Ich möchte meine warme Dankbarkeit für den Inhalt
Ihres Schreibens vom 29. August und den Geist, der es bewegt, zum Ausdruck
bringen.
Es ist richtig, dass Meinungsverschiedenheiten zwischen dem Mandatarstaat und
der Jüdischen Agentur hinsichtlich der Politik in Palästina bestehen, aber ich
nehme erfreut die Zusicherungen an, die in Ihrem Brief enthalten sind.
Ich stelle mit Befriedigung fest, dass in dieser Zeit größten Ernstes, in der die
Dinge, die uns teuer sind, auf dem Spiel stehen, England sich auf die aufrichtige
Mitwirkung der Jüdischen Agentur verlassen kann. Sie werden nicht erwarten,
dass ich in diesem Stadium mehr sage als dass Ihre um das Gemeinwohl
besorgten Zusicherungen willkommen sind und beherzigt werden.

DR. WEIZMANNS LETTER TO MR. CHAMBERLAIN
The Jewish Agency for Palestine in London yesterday issued the text of
correspondence between Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of the agency. and the
Prime Minister. Dr. Weizmann in bis letter to Mr. Chamberlain, dated August!
29, wrote:
Dear Mr. Prime Minister.-In this hour of supreme critis the consciousnes that the
Jews have a contribution to make to the defence of sacred values impels me to
write this letter. l wish to confirm, in the most explicit manner, the declarations
which l and my colleagues have made during the last month, and especially in
the last week, that the Jews stand by Great Britain and will fight on the side of
the democracies.
Our urgent desire is to give effect to these declarations. We wish to do so in a
way entirely consonant with the general scheme of British action, and therefore
would place ourselves, in maners big and small. under the coordinating direction
of his Majesty's Government. The Jewish Agency is ready to enter into
immediate arrangements for utilizing Jewish man-power, technical ability,
resources. &c.
The Jewish Agency has recently had differences in the political field with the
Man-datory Power. We would like these differences to give way before the
greater and more pressising necessities of the time. We ask you to accept this
declaration in ihe spirit in which it is made.
