Adding a Monitor Group
at least one type of alert. For many monitors, you can add more
performance criteria that generate additional kinds of alerts.
In response to an alert, OneSight can trigger an action plan; change
a monitor’s health; do both, in some cases; or do nothing. The Alert
Editor is where you define an alert for a monitor and define the
response for an alert. The Configure Action Plans page is where
you manage the action plans used by applied monitors.
Adding a Monitor Group
In Empirix OneSight, monitors are always used as part of a monitor
group. So to use OneSight, you must begin by creating at least one
monitor group. You can then create monitors either from within a
monitor group or in the OneSight Monitors configuration. You use
monitor groups to group together monitors in any way that seems
logical to you.
Monitors you create from within a monitor group are automatically
part of that monitor group and can be added to any other monitor
group using the Monitors configuration. Monitors you create from
the Monitors configuration can be added to any existing monitor
group(s). Refer to Chapter 5 for information on adding monitors.
Following are the broad steps for adding a monitor group and
monitors:
1. Enter the name and a description of the monitor group as
described below.
2. Add monitors as described below and in Chapter 5.
3. Verify that the monitors are performing as expected as
described in Chapter 5.
4. For each monitor, specify responses for alerts (optional) as
described later in this chapter.
