Configuring SNMP Monitors
2. The Monitor Types box lists all of the types of monitors that
can be applied to your monitor group. Click SNMP to add a
monitor that checks an SNMP object. You’ll use settings on the
General tab to configure an SNMP monitor.
Import/Export – Click this button to display the Import Export
Monitors dialog box for importing or exporting monitors of this
type. Refer to ―Exporting and Importing Monitors,‖ later in this
chapter for more information.
Host Name – Specifies the name or IP address of the host.
Community – Specifies the SNMP password of the system. The
default SNMP community string is public.
Port – Specifies the port number used on this system by the
SNMP agent. Typically, this is port 161.
Time Out– Specifies the amount of time (in seconds) to wait for
an SNMP reply. If Retries is greater than 0 and a reply is not
received, a retry attempt is made. For each subsequent retry, the
