parameters for data retention.
Manual Database Backup
If you are backing up the OneSight database manually (using the
SQL Enterprise Manager, for example), stop the OneSight service
during backup.
Transferring Configuration Data to Another Database
This section explains how to transfer OneSight configuration data
from one database to another. It assumes that you are running SQL
Server 7 or SQL Server 2000 and that the Data Transformation
Service (DTS) is available.
The transfer can be done on a live database if you are not making
configuration changes during this process. This process should NOT
be done on a new database on the same machine on which OneSight
is running because it may adversely affect OneSight performance
and the data transformation process.
Caution: This process is valid only for OneSight version 5.1 and
newer. It assumes that a target database ALREADY exits and that
the database contains all of the necessary OneSight tables. The
easiest way to do this is to create a new clean and empty database
using the initdb.exe utility found in the \Empirix\OneSight\setup
directory.
The data transfer outlined here is used to COPY the configuration
specific tables from the source database and OVERWRITE the tables
