Modifying System Definitions
Instance – Typically, this value is zero for single-processor
machines. If you have a multiprocessor machine, then look up the
Instance value in the NT Performance Monitor.
SNMP Tab – Adding information to the Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP) tab enables OneSight to provide
specific performance and configuration information on network
devices, such as routers, or on hosts, such as workstations or
mainframes.
To use SNMP with OneSight, you must enable SNMP on the
machines you intend to monitor. For more information, see the
SNMP System Requirements. The OneSight Solaris profile queries
the Sun SNMP agent for Sun’s MIB and the RFC-1213 (MIB-2).
The following options are available on the SNMP tab for the
component type.
Object ID (to override default discovery) – Enter the object ID of
the object you want to discover if it is different than the default
discovery. Click Browse to display the MIB browser for
searching for the object.
Perl Expression – Enter a Perl expression if you want to further
qualify the results returned by the discovery request. Refer to
Using Regular Expressions for Pattern Matching in Chapter 5
for more information about regular expressions.
The following option is available on the SNMP tab for individual
components.
Search for string – This field is automatically filled in as a result
of discovery based on the Object ID and Perl expression that
were entered.
UNIX System Tab – Currently, the CPU component does not use
UNIX System information as a data source. Settings on this tab can
be ignored.
