Configuring URL Monitors
When you pick a string, you will get the best results if the string
is:
Typically found on a page that is displayed when a page is
not available (for example, ―not found‖ or ―timeout‖).
Not found on the URL you are monitoring.
Match Content String only when returned HTML is well formatted
– select this option to match good content and bad content only
when the return file is HTML. No matching is done for any
other file type.
Sample Timeout – Specify the number of seconds that should
elapse before the monitor times out while attempting to sample.
This setting is based on the time that elapses after a URL is
located and the page download process begins.
Measurement Details
Retrieve Images – If you want to calculate URL availability
and access time with retrieval of embedded images (such as
.gif and .jpeg files and references within tags) included,
select this check box.
Retrieve Objects – If you want to calculate URL availability
and access time with retrieval of embedded objects (such as
ActiveX objects and Java applets) included, select this check
box. OneSight measures the time taken to retrieve data used
by objects, but does not include the time needed to retrieve
any executable file required in order to interpret the data.
Content types other than HTML and images are also
classified as objects.
HTTP Method Settings
Get – The default HTTP method is Get. Include any
additional query strings as part of the URL address.
