Configuring the SNMP Agent Configuring the SNMP Agent OneSight can publish Monitor, Alert, and internal performance data via an SNMP Agent. Select SNMP Agent from the Configure menu. Use this dialog to enable and configure the SNMP Agent. Enable SNMP Agent – The check box controls whether to enable the SNMP Agent. Enable Monitor Data – The checkbox can be used to specifically enable SNMP access to OneSight Monitor performance data. Enable Alert Data – The checkbox can be used to specifically enable SNMP access to OneSight Alert data. Enable OneSight Internal Data – The checkbox can be used to specifically enable SNMP access to OneSight’s internal performance data. Port – Specifies the port number used on this system by the SNMP agent. Typically, this is port 161. Community – Specifies the SNMP password of the system. 74 OneSight Administrator Guide
C h a p t e r 3 Getting Started To use OneSight, you must configure at least one monitor group and supply information about the web components you want to monitor and the action plans you want to use to correct problems that are discovered. This chapter provides procedures for creating the monitor groups, monitors, and alerts you need to get started with OneSight. Note: If you are not logged on as an administrator, you cannot perform these operations. Empirix OneSight has these basic elements: OneSight Server – This dedicated Windows server is where the majority of OneSight software, the OneSight Console, database, and web server software, is installed. The Console is browserbased and can be accessed either from the OneSight Server or from a client machine. Contact Channel Components – These are the machines, systems, devices, or other parts of your customer service site that you want Empirix OneSight to monitor. Empirix OneSight can discover these components through an automatic process or you can specify these components yourself. OneSight needs information about the web components that you want to monitor and the action plans that you want to use to correct problems that are discovered. To start using OneSight, you must add at least one monitor group, supplying information needed to monitor and manage that monitor group. 75
