Appraiser<br />

This occupation specializes in appraising<br />

gems and precious metals, not magical items. Having<br />

far-sighted Vision is a detriment to any appraiser;<br />

a penalty is applied to the Appraise skill check. Daily<br />

wages are typically 11 s.p., earning 1 s.p. per item to<br />

be appraised.<br />

Ability Requirements: Analytic Intelligence<br />

90 and Intelligence (overall) 75.<br />

Gender: Female appraisers are rare.<br />

Race: The most common are dwarves, humans,<br />

and trolls; ogres cannot appraise.<br />

Disposition: Any.<br />

Temperament: Any.<br />

Sociality: Serf.<br />

Religion: Any.<br />

Skills: Appraise + 5.<br />

Equipment: None.<br />

Magic Points: Inapplicable.<br />

Advancement Points: For each appraisal,<br />

the appraiser acquires 1 AP.<br />

Training: None.<br />

Guild: Jewelers’ Guild. Each apprentice<br />

must serve 10 years. Once an apprentice for 10 years,<br />

they may apply for employment as a journeyman<br />

with the guild.<br />

For a journeyman to become a master, they<br />

must be able financially to open their own shop,<br />

and receive the approval of the guild. To receive<br />

approval, they must pass a Persuasion skill check.<br />

The TH begins at 30 and is decreased by 1 for every<br />

period of 6 months in which the journeyman has<br />

worked locally with the guild. The Aedile may overrule<br />

this skill check or apply any modifier deemed<br />

appropriate.<br />

Armorer<br />

This occupation demands skill that is more<br />

technical than that of a blacksmith. These smiths<br />

specialize in the manufacture of armors such as<br />

chainmail and platemail. On average, armorers<br />

charge 1 s.p. to clean the rust from each piece of<br />

armor. Daily wages are typically 12 s.p.<br />

Ability Requirements: Strength 90, Spatial<br />

Intelligence 90, and Intelligence (overall) 85.<br />

Gender: Female armorers are rare.<br />

Race: Some human armorers produce armor<br />

of exceptional quality, but trolls are most famous.<br />

Dwarven armor is also prized.<br />

Disposition: Any.<br />

Temperament: Any.<br />

Sociality: Serf.<br />

Religion: Any, but most favor gods of war.<br />

Skills: Armorsmithing + 5, Blacksmithing<br />

+ 8, and Haggling + 3.<br />

Equipment: Armorsmithing requires access<br />

to a forge, anvil, hammers, tongs, and many fine<br />

tools.<br />

Magic Points: Inapplicable.<br />

Advancement Points: For each suit of<br />

chainmail crafted, an armorer acquires 5 AP. For<br />

each suit of platemail crafted, an armorer acquires<br />

20 AP.<br />
