the slower the wick burns. This candle burns for 60<br />

hours. In sheer darkness, 1 candle illuminates for a<br />

1’ radius and incurs a cumulative -10 to Sight checks<br />

(see Chap. 8: Skills) for each foot. No single candle<br />

illuminates beyond a radius of 10’. For each additional<br />

candle, the range of illumination is extended<br />

1’. BCT is 1 day for a chandler.<br />

Cane, walking: A small staff, no longer than<br />

half the height of the character who needs it, is<br />

used to support a character as they walk. BCT is 1<br />

day for a carver.<br />

Cape, lacerna: This is a short, light cape<br />

suitable to be worn during mild weather. BCT is 1/<br />

2 day for a tailor.<br />

Cape, paenula: Made from either wool or<br />

leather, this cape is fitted with a hood and reaches<br />

to the knees of a character. A paenula is worn during<br />

rain. BCT os 1 day for a tailor.<br />

Cape, birrus: Made from wool, this cape<br />

reaches to the knees of a character. A birrus is worn<br />

during cold weather. BCT os 1 day for a tailor.<br />

Cauldron: This is a large container made<br />

of iron. A cauldron is placed over a fire and used to<br />

boil large quantities of food or beverage. BCT is 2<br />

days for a blacksmith.<br />

Chair: Constructed of wood, a chair is an<br />

object on which someone may rest their ass and<br />

their back. BCT os 1 day for a carpenter.<br />

Chalk, 1 piece: Very small, a piece of chalk<br />

is typically only a few inches in length and an inch in<br />

diameter. As chalk brushes against objects, it leaves<br />

behind a mark. BCT os 1 day for a mason (who<br />

gets it from a miner).<br />

Chamber Pot: This pot is not used for<br />

cooking, but defecating and urinating. When a character<br />

is relieved, the chamber pot is carried to the<br />

top of the outer wall of the fortification, if there is<br />

one, and emptied over it. Otherwise, many inhabitants<br />

of castles relieve themselves in a garderobe.<br />

BCT is 1 day for a blacksmith.<br />

Chemise: This is long underwear for females<br />

only. BCT is 1/2 day for a tailor.<br />

Chest, wood: This object is used to store<br />

items and to protect them from the weather or other<br />

characters. Wooden chests may be strategically<br />

braced by metal, and they may also be locked. BCT<br />

is 3 days for a carpenter.<br />

Cloak: A piece of material that is draped<br />

over a character’s back is a cloak. Not quite as fully<br />
