In a previous study (Rumsey, Osborn, &,Ford 1985) the authors looked at correlations between hands-on and written tests for 28 occupations in which the overall correlation for the 28 jobs is .41. Selecting the eight occupations that are similar to the Radioman, the hands-on--written correlation is .45, and for the military job most like the Radioman's --the Army Radio-Teletype Operator--the correlation is .37. Again, much of the notable results for the Radioman in this area is believed to be directly a result of the high rater reliability performance. 533
