if a tenant who is entitled to receive a purchase <strong>of</strong>fer does not receive the purchase<br />

<strong>of</strong>fer at the same time as the tenant receives the notice <strong>of</strong> conversion, then a<br />

certain time period <strong>of</strong> continued residency does not begin until the tenant receives<br />

the purchase <strong>of</strong>fer; requiring that a certain written notice given to a certain tenant<br />

include certain language relating to the time frame a tenant may remain in a<br />

residence if a purchase <strong>of</strong>fer is not included with a notice <strong>of</strong> conversion; and<br />

generally relating to notice requirements for the conversion <strong>of</strong> rental facilities to<br />

condominiums.<br />

House Bill 96 – Delegates Hixson, Hucker, and Mizeur<br />

AN ACT concerning<br />

Condominiums – Conversion <strong>of</strong> Rental Facilities – Extended Leases – Property Tax<br />

Credit<br />

FOR the purpose <strong>of</strong> altering the minimum period <strong>of</strong> a certain extended lease that a<br />

developer converting a rental facility to a condominium is required to <strong>of</strong>fer certain<br />

<strong>house</strong>holds under certain circumstances; authorizing the governing body <strong>of</strong> a<br />

county or municipal corporation to grant, by law, a property tax credit against the<br />

county or municipal corporation property tax imposed on certain property owned<br />

by a developer that converts a residential rental facility to a condominium and<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers extended leases to tenants <strong>of</strong> the residential rental facility; authorizing the<br />

county or municipal corporation to provide, by law, for the amount, duration, and<br />

application <strong>of</strong> the property tax credit and any other provision necessary to carry<br />

out the credit; providing for the application <strong>of</strong> this Act; and generally relating to<br />

the conversion <strong>of</strong> rental facilities to condominiums.<br />
