set conditions on certain agreements with a speech–language pathology assistant<br />

who is under investigation or while charges are pending; authorizing the Board to<br />

impose certain penalties on speech–language pathology assistants under certain<br />

circumstances; altering certain grounds for penalties; repealing a certain<br />

exemption that allows a person to sell hearing aids by door–to–door solicitation<br />

under certain circumstances; requiring audiologists and hearing aid dispensers<br />

who sell hearing aids to provide certain refund information; altering certain<br />

monetary penalties; authorizing the Board to issue subpoenas and administer oaths<br />

under certain circumstances with the signature <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>ficer or administrator <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Board; requiring licensees found in violation <strong>of</strong> certain provisions to pay certain<br />

costs; establishing that a certain order <strong>of</strong> the Board may not be stayed pending<br />

review; establishing one rehabilitation committee for audiologists, hearing aid<br />

dispensers, speech–language pathologists, and speech–language pathology<br />

assistants; requiring the Board to adopt regulations establishing qualifications,<br />

scope <strong>of</strong> practice, and supervision requirements for speech–language pathology<br />

assistants; altering terms and practices that certain unlicensed individuals may not<br />

use to represent to the public that they are authorized to practice audiology or<br />

speech–language pathology, or assists in the practice <strong>of</strong> speech–language<br />

pathology; prohibiting unlicensed individuals from representing to the public that<br />

they are authorized to assist in the practice <strong>of</strong> speech–language pathology; altering<br />

the definitions <strong>of</strong> certain terms; defining certain terms; and generally relating<br />

to revisions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Maryland</strong> Audiologist, Hearing Aid Dispensers, and<br />

Speech–Language Pathologist Act.<br />
