You can also save the search criteria or “query” so that if you need to
perform the search again, you don’t have to re-enter complex definitions.
Instead, you can open the query and initiate the search. You can modify the
query if you’d like, as well as delete the query when you no longer need it.
Notes uses certain syntax rules for a search query.

Performing a search on specific fields in a form
Field operators allow you to restrict your search to specific fields in a form.
Operator and synonym:
[field_name] operator
FIELD [field_name] operator
Result (selected documents...):
contain the query expression in the specified field
contain the field name in the specified field
The types of operators you can use depends on the type of field
Type of field:
Text
Rich Text
Number
Date
Operator you can use:
contains
contains
= (equals)
> (greater than)
>= (greater than or equal to)
< (less than)

where “tax law” appears in the categories field
where “cat” or “mouse” (or both) appear in the
subject field

Performing an advanced search from Notes
Advanced search allows you to refine your search by specifying a list of
words and a specific date for the document you are trying to locate. There is
also a forms search option, available if the file cabinet creator customized
the template to include SearchByForm as a custom subform.
