274 All the world shall be against the sinner
for having offended their Creator.
The miserable sinner shall be struck dumb.
All araund is every way out closed to him.
278 The Lord judge shall be indignant from on high.
Frorn below shall hell be ready to swallow him up.
On his left shall the wicked devil be accusing,
on his right shall his sins be praclaiming:
«Here we are, acting against thee, created by thee».
The gravest shall be frorn within the conscience itself.
284 There will be no place at all to hide.
Who would dare come forward at such a time?
Everyone shall be set against him,
even all the saints shall remain silent at that point;
Nor shall the judge hear any plea.
Let us bear this in mind before going there.
290 Where will this world's lordly kings be?
The dukes, earls, marquesses, and other nobles,
and the feats of the mighty men in their army?
At that time shall their might be of little use.
294 Jurists and theologians, poets and doctors,
attorneys, lawyers, judges and notaries.
Then shall their ignoble acts be revealed,
And their judiciousness and prattle will be of little use.
298 Popes, cardinals, priests, and prelates,
will have to bear full account of themselves and their flock.
On that day shall the greatest be damned,
and the great and small shall be judged alike.
302 It will be useless to appeal against Him.
For He recognizes no lord aboye Him.
He abhors evil and loves truth.
Alas, 1 pray, let us all do penitence
to avoid such a great plight on that day.
307 Warnings shall sound mournfully beforehand;
the elements shall be in upheaval,
the sun and moon turned to blood,
the sea heaving up and down.
The fish therein shall jump out of fear.
