VI. BREAKUP OF LOVERS
1 If only I could get away from her! There could be no better solution.
But I have no other whom I love so mucho
3 I have loved a woman far beyond all measure.
My heart and soul are lashed to her;
Her beautiful image is fixed in my eyes,
and when I remember, my heart is rent.
7 Such is my great love for her,
that I could not tire in her company.
Parting from her is my withering away.
Until I can see her again, I shall always be sad.
11 Alas, my love, what pain dost thou cause me!
As I may not be united with thee, my heart burns.
Thou wert truly made to torment me fearfully.
AlI the sorrows would be bearable, were I in thy thoughts.
15 One night I should like to talk to thee,
a night as long as a month,
to tell thee of my agony at length,
to be with thee without the slightest fear.
19 Now can I apprehend the saying of those who know:
That nobody should give up what he has in his hands.
Alas, if only I could bring back the time gone by!
Then, I should not have this misgiving now.
23 At that time I would anguish over thee,
but now, because of thee, I too have changed.
Do not be sad, thou wilt have love,
but it is time thou shouldst grow wise.
27 Thou knowest, I too am in pain.
And I am not to blame for the change in thee.
I took thee as my love to suffer dreadfully.
I shall suffer forever because of thee.
