Bueskydning er i Japan blevet kombineret med zen-teknik,
som beskrevet af Herrigel 72 og andre. Afskydningen af pilen
bruges som en form for meditation, hvor eleven efter utallige
mislykkede forsøg kommer til en punkt, hvor han næsten ved en
fejtagelse lader pilen slippe løs, så at den farer frem af sig
selv, og i det øjeblik er han uden nogen "jeg"-forestilling.
