<strong>Community</strong> Campus<br />

As Tucson, <strong>Pima</strong> County, and the entire Southern Arizona<br />

region continue to grow and change, <strong>Community</strong> Campus<br />

responds with degrees, certificates, training and comprehensive<br />

student services to meet the needs of our dynamic<br />

student population. <strong>Community</strong> Campus serves over<br />

50,000 students each year, offering flexible degree and<br />

certificate programs and services to meet every need,<br />

including fully online and hybrid options, self-paced distance<br />

courses, and online advising and tutoring.<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Campus is also home to vital community programs<br />

such as <strong>Pima</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> Adult education<br />

(PCCAe). PCCAe provides free classes to adults seeking to<br />

obtain their Arizona high School equivalency Diploma<br />

(geD) or those who seek to learn or improve their english.<br />

PCCAe also provides geD Testing and has programs targeting<br />

specific populations. These include Family literacy<br />

Program, Workplace education Program, Refugee<br />

education Program and Project RAISe. Continuing<br />

education provides personal interest classes and activities<br />

for everyone, from pre-kindergarten children through senior<br />

citizens. The post degree Teacher education Program<br />

provides required preparation and professional development<br />

for Arizona teachers.<br />

Through <strong>Community</strong> Campus, students can complete<br />

Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Business (AB),<br />

Associate of general Studies (AgS), Associate of Arts<br />

elementary education (AAee), Associate of Applied Arts<br />

(AAS), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees;<br />

AgeC general education certificates for transfer; specialized<br />

basic and advanced certificates; post-degree teacher<br />

training certificates, endorsements, and professional<br />

development; workforce development programs; and customized<br />

courses and certificates developed in industry<br />

specific disciplines on a contractual basis. The Associate of<br />

Applied Science Business and Industry Technology (AAS-<br />

BIT) degree may include industry certifications ranging<br />

from A+ and Net+ to Cisco, and leadership or supervision.<br />

The <strong>College</strong><br />

<strong>Community</strong> Campus services include development and<br />

delivery of classes and programs in a variety of modes and<br />

locations in support of college wide programs and initiatives.<br />

The <strong>Community</strong> Campus has been serving students<br />

since 1975, offering credit and non-credit classes at its<br />

campus location (401 North Bonita Avenue) and at more<br />

than 90 facilities throughout southern Arizona, including<br />

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. <strong>Community</strong> Campus is at<br />

the center of the <strong>College</strong>'s distance education programs<br />

offered online.<br />

The teacher training program offers Arizona Department of<br />

education (ADe) approved teacher preparation at the post<br />

baccaulaureate level in: elementary, secondary and special<br />

education, as well as ADe endorsements in english as a<br />

Second language, Middle Schools, and Structured english<br />

Immersion (SeI) for currently certified teachers; professional<br />

development courses for K-12 educators and<br />

administrators; an Associate of Arts degree in elementary<br />

education; and a basic certificate in educational Technology.<br />

Through its Workforce and Business Development (WBD)<br />

division, the <strong>College</strong> provides comprehensive, cost-effective<br />

training options for individual workers, as well as for<br />

businesses, organizations and governmental agencies. The<br />

WBD Contract Training department offers traditional or<br />

customized credit, non-credit or continuing education unit<br />

(CeU) courses to meet the needs of regional employers.<br />

These courses may be offered in person or online, at a<br />

location and at times convenient for the client. The Public<br />

Safety and emergency Services Institute (PSeSI) offers<br />

open enrollment courses, and also partners with public and<br />

private agencies, to provide degrees and certificates in law<br />

enforcement, fire science, corrections, juvenile corrections,<br />

crime scene management and emergency medical technology.<br />

The Arizona Prison Program contracts with appropriate<br />

federal and state agencies to provide occupational training<br />

programs for inmates. Finally, the WBD division works<br />

closely with <strong>Pima</strong> County to assist students in receiving<br />

Workforce Investment Act funding for classes.<br />

<strong>Pima</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> Adult education, with sites<br />

through-out <strong>Pima</strong> County, coordinates adult basic education<br />

classes and services. PCCAe offers an array of<br />

programs, including geD preparation classes and testing,<br />

english language Acquisition for Adults (elAA), citizenship<br />

classes, <strong>College</strong> Transition opportunities and education<br />

programs for specific populations.<br />

Continuing education programs and services include noncredit<br />

general interest classes, programs for active adults,<br />

Motorcycle Rider education, <strong>Pima</strong> for Kids summer classes<br />

for K-8 students, workshops and seminars.<br />

The Center for learning Technology (ClT) houses the<br />

<strong>College</strong>'s broadcast-quality video production facilities and<br />

Internet development and delivery center.<br />

The <strong>Community</strong> Campus facilities also include Northern<br />

Arizona University (NAU). NAU has offices, an interactive<br />

classroom and labs, and distribution control for its distance<br />

learning operations throughout Southern Arizona at the<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Campus.<br />
