FAW 128F4 Aerobics: Cardio-Kickboxing<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular exercises generally set to music, performed rhythmically, and patterns simulate the<br />

movements of kickboxing (upper and lower bodystrikes) without physical contact. Includes personal safety and<br />

preparation, personal fitness assessment and activity modifications, and elements of rhythmic aerobic routines.<br />

Information: May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

FAW 128F5 Aerobics: Plus-Sized Exercise<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular exercises generally set to music and performed rhythmically. Includes personal safety and<br />

preparation, personal fitness assessment and activity modifications, and elements of rhythmic aerobic routines. Also<br />

includes determination of cardiovascular endurance level and challenging that system, improving local muscular<br />

endurance, flexibility, and principles and techniques for warming up and cooling down safely.<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This low-impact, personally modified course is intended for students who are overweight and who do not consider<br />

themselves ready for a traditional aerobics-style course.<br />

FAW 128F6 Aerobics: Step<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular exercises set to music, performed rhythmically using basic to complex stepping patterns on<br />

the floor and on a raised platform. Includes personal safety and preparation, personal fitness assessment and activity<br />

modifications, and elements of rhythmic aerobic routines. Also includes determination of cardiovascular endurance level<br />

and challenging that system, improving local muscular endurance, and flexibility.<br />

Information: May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

Offered: May not be offered this year, check class schedule.<br />

FAW 129F1 Aerobi-Dance: Jazz Fitness<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular strength conditioning set to music and incorporating jazz dance steps in choreographed<br />

group exercise. Includes personal safety and preparation, personal fitness assessment and activity modifications, and<br />

elements of rhythmic aerobic routines.<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is an aerobics course using methods common to Jazz but it is not a Jazz dance course and will not be<br />

accepted for credit in the Associate of Fine Arts Dance Concentration.<br />

FAW 129F2 Aerobi-Dance: Tap Fitness<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular strength conditioning set to music and incorporating tap dance steps in choreographed group<br />

exercise. Includes personal safety and preparation, personal fitness assessment and activity modifications, and elements<br />

of rhythmic aerobic routines.<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is an aerobics course using methods common to tap but it is not a Tap Dance course and will not be accepted<br />

for credit in the Associate of Fine Arts Dance Concentration.<br />

FAW 129F3 Aerobi-Dance: Latin Rhythms<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular and muscular exercises inspired by Latin dance and music. Includes personal safety and preparation,<br />

personal fitness assessment and activity modification, and elements of rhythmic aerobic routines.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course may include combinations from cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco, calypso, or<br />

Salsaton.<br />

Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms to help tone and sculpt the body.<br />

FAW 130 Boot Camp Style Circuit Training<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Total body conditioning using various exercises, stations, and equipment which provide a cardiovascular challenge while<br />

emphasizing development of muscular strength and endurance. Includes personal safety and preparation, personal fitness<br />

assessment and activity modifications, and techniques and considerations for exercise. Also includes work on flexibility,<br />

agility, balance, and coordination with emphasis on personal fitness development.<br />
