CIS 278 C++ and Object-Oriented Programming<br />

5 cr. hrs. 5 periods (5 lec.)<br />

Concepts and implementation of object-oriented programming and design using C++. Includes the language syntax of<br />

C++, applications using C++ objects to solve information systems problems, and class libraries created for reuse and<br />

inheritance.<br />

Prerequisite(s): CIS 265.<br />

Information: Completion of CIS 265 or consent of instructor is required before enrolling in this course.<br />

CIS 279 Java Programming<br />

5 cr. hrs. 5 periods (5 lec.)<br />

Introduction to Object Oriented Programming (OOP) using the Java programming language. Includes writing stand-alone<br />

programs and applets. Also includes strings, files, exception processing and threads.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of CIS 265 or minimum of one year of C programming experience before enrolling in this<br />

course.<br />

CIS 280 Systems Analysis and <strong>Design</strong>: Concepts and Tools<br />

4 cr. hrs. 4 periods (4 lec.)<br />

Concepts of systems analysis and design for all phases of the systems development life cycle. Includes problem<br />

identification, project initiation and planning, analysis, logical design, physical design, implementation and testing, and<br />

operations and maintenance. Also includes specific tools used by systems analysts, introduction and use of CASE<br />

(computer-aided software engineering) tools, and project management software.<br />

Prerequisite(s): CIS 131 or 162.<br />

Concepts and tools of systems analysis applied to specific projects. Includes performing a project from problem initiation<br />

through to implementation using CASE tools, project management software, and appropriate software development tools.<br />

Beginning approach to operating a computer with a focus on basic computer skills and computer terminology. Includes<br />

Windows basics, Internet basics, fundamentals of <strong>Pima</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> web site and My<strong>Pima</strong>, email basics, and basic<br />

word processing skills.<br />

CSA 100 Computer Literacy<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1.5 periods (.5 lec., 1 lab)<br />

Overview of computer applications and functions. Includes components of a computer system, spreadsheet, database, and<br />

word processing use within a workplace. Also includes computer networks for communication and information.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of CSA 089 or basic computer and keyboard skills, completion of REA 091 or satisfactory<br />

score on the reading assessment test before enrolling in this course.<br />

Information: CSA 100 meets occupational general education computer and information literacy requirements and is a one<br />

credit version of CSA 101.<br />
