DHE 260LC Clinical Skills Enhancement II<br />

1-4 cr. hrs. 4-16 periods (4-16 lab)<br />

A clinical remediation course designed to support identified second year dental hygiene students who are performing at or<br />

below clinic course expectations. Includes identification of need through clinical performance scores, development of<br />

individualized clinical remediation plan, and assessment.<br />

Information: Students must be admitted to the PCC Dental Hygiene program and obtain consent of the Dental Hygiene<br />

department before enrolling in this course. May be taken two times for a maximum of eight credit hours.<br />

DHE 296 Advanced Independent Study: Dental Hygiene<br />

1-4 cr. hrs. 3-12 periods (3-12 lab)<br />

Students independently continue their development in Dental Hygiene under the guidance of a faculty member.<br />

DLT 101 Dental Morphology<br />

Introduction to human dental morphology through lectures, readings, and sculpting exercises. Includes the dental health<br />

care team, anatomical landmarks and terminology, tooth development and landmarks, tooth sculpting, articulators and<br />

model mounting, occlusion, and care of laboratory instruments.<br />

DLT 102 Non-Metallic Dental Materials<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Principles of chemistry and physics, identification, selection, and manipulation of non-metallic dental materials. Includes<br />

an introduction to dental materials, management of materials, impression material, gypsum materials, dental waxes,<br />

refractory materials, and acrylic resin.<br />

Prerequisite(s): DLT 101 or concurrent enrollment.<br />

DLT 103 Complete Dentures<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Examination of the relationship between upper and lower dentures as interpreted on a functional articulator. Includes<br />

evaluation of preliminary impressions and fabrication of models, custom impression trays, evaluation of final impression<br />

and master model, baseplate fabrication, occlusion rims, articulation and mounting of working models, and prosthetic<br />

tooth selection. Also includes setting artificial denture teeth, processing the trial denture, finishing complete dentures,<br />

fabricating surgical templates, and denture repair and reline.<br />
