FAW 106F4 Individual Fitness: Walking<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular conditioning, improved fitness, and weight management through various walking workouts. Includes<br />

introduction to walking, components of training, heart rate zone training, common faults, walking health and personal<br />

safety, designing your training program, and race walking techniques. Also includes stride technique, proper alignment,<br />

cardiovascular fitness assessment, goal setting, and workout types for specific goals and distances.<br />

Information: May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

FAW 108 Senior Fitness<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Introduction to a personalized fitness program using resistance, cardiovascular, and flexibility training for older adults.<br />

Includes orientation to the fitness facility, evaluation of personal fitness status and needs, principles of basic program<br />

design, and benefits of healthy lifestyle choices. Also includes choosing appropriate exercises to meet individual goals, and<br />

developing initial training strategies for improving body total fitness.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is appropriate for healthy older adults who have a desire to maintain or increase their activity levels.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

FAW 109 Triathlon Training: Swimming<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Cardiovascular conditioning for triathlon, biathlon, and distance swimming events. Includes essential personal safety and<br />

equipment, basic stroke development review, endurance swimming techniques, improving cardiovascular fitness level and<br />

event management.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is intended for students interested in competitive distance swimming.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

FAW 110F1 Weight Training and Cardiovascular Fitness Level I<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Introduction to a personalized fitness program using resistance, cardiovascular, and flexibility training. Includes orientation<br />

to the fitness facility, evaluation of personal fitness status and goal setting, principles of basic program design, and<br />

benefits of healthy lifestyle choices.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is appropriate for students desiring to improve either health fitness or athletic performance and may NOT be<br />

taken concurrently with FAW 110F2 or FAW 110F3.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.<br />

FAW 110F2 Weight Training and Cardiovascular Fitness Level I Extended<br />

2 cr. hrs. 4 periods (4 lab)<br />

Introduction to a personalized fitness program using resistance, cardiovascular, and flexibility training. Includes orientation<br />

to the fitness facility, evaluation of personal fitness status and goal setting, principles of basic program design, and<br />

benefits of healthy lifestyle choices.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken two times for a maximum of four credit hours.<br />

This course is appropriate for students desiring to improve either health fitness or athletic performance and may NOT be<br />

taken concurrently with FAW 110F1 or FAW 110F3.<br />

This course requires twice the time commitment for working out as FAW 110F1.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.<br />

FAW 110F3 Weight Training and Cardiovascular Fitness Level II<br />

2 cr. hrs. 4 periods (4 lab)<br />

Continuation of FAW 110F1 or FAW 110F2. Includes orientation to the fitness facility, evaluation of personal fitness status<br />

and needs, principles of program design, and benefits of healthy lifestyle choices.<br />

Prerequisite(s): FAW 110F1 or 110F2.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken two times for a maximum of four credit hours.<br />

This course is appropriate for students desiring to improve either health fitness or athletic performance and may NOT be<br />

taken concurrently with FAW 110F1 or FAW 110F2.<br />

Prerequisite(s) may be waived with consent of instructor.<br />
