WLD 262 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Procedures and techniques in the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process. Includes health, safety, and environmental<br />

practices, welding terminology, GTAW process and equipment, equipment operation and techniques, power source types<br />

and controls, welding currents and polarities, tungsten electrodes, shielding gases, mild steel welding, aluminum welding,<br />

stainless steel welding, and GTAW certification.<br />

Recommendation: WLD 110 or welding industry experience.<br />

Information: Prerequisite may be waived with welding industry experience.<br />

WLD 263 Layout and Fabrication Welding<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Principles and techniques of steel layout and fabrication welding. Includes measurement, print reading review, layout<br />

tools, layout techniques, hand-held power tool safety and use, large power tool safety and use, drawing interpretation,<br />

structural methods, and welding projects.<br />

Prerequisite(s): WLD 115, 261 and GTM 105 or math assessment at MAT 092 or higher.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of WLD 160 before enrolling in this course.<br />

Information: Prerequisites may be waived for appropriate work experience. See a welding instructor or advisor for<br />

prerequisite information.<br />

WLD 296 Welding Independent Projects<br />

1-4 cr. hrs. 3-12 periods (3-12 lab)<br />

Self-directed laboratory projects. Includes project objectives, procedures, safety practices,welding processes, set-up for<br />

the project, and project completion.<br />

Prerequisite(s): WLD 110.<br />

Information:<br />

Welding industry experience or welding skills may be substituted for the prerequisite requirement. See a welding<br />

instructor for approval.<br />

May be repeated up to three times for a maximum of sixteen credit hours.<br />

WLD 297 Welding Seminar<br />

.25-4 cr. hrs. .25-4 periods (.25-4 lec.)<br />

Welding job-related training. Includes presentations and development of skills in a given area and topics of timely or<br />

limited interest.<br />

Information: Consent of instructor is required before enrolling in this course.<br />

WED 110 Introduction to Complementary and Alternative Medicine<br />

Definition of health; exploration of mind-body-spirit connection in health; various therapeutic modalities; identification of<br />

strengths and limitations of alternative therapies. Also includes development of ability to critically review written material<br />

in the alternative therapy area.<br />

WED 111 Self Care for Personal Wellness<br />

2 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lec.)<br />

Emphasis on mind-body methods for personal wellness through integration of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual<br />

dimensions of being. Development of a personal practice to achieve and sustain a balanced program to support personal<br />

health and well being.<br />

WED 120 Introduction to Energy Healing and Reiki<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

An overview of energy modalities, how energy works, how energy can be manifested and used for healing, and the<br />

personal responsibilities and ethical considerations for a practitioner of healing. Includes an introductory concentration on<br />

Reiki as a concept of health and wellness, and the essence, history and levels of Reiki.<br />

Information: Applicable as an elective course for the Therapeutic Massage program and as continuing education hours for<br />

health and wellness professionals.<br />
