EUT 100 Basic Electrical Theory and Electrical Print Reading<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Introduction to the basics of direct current and alternating current circuits . Includes an overview of basic connection,<br />

interconnections and schematic diagrams. Also includes power formulas in both direct and alternating circuits and<br />

elementary electrical mathematics.<br />

EUT 101 Introduction to Electrical Utilities<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Overview of the electrical utility field. Includes electricity generation, generating station, generation, transmission, and<br />

distribution, power policies and procedures, radio procedures, electrical utility disciplines, human resources, and system<br />

protection.<br />

EUT 102 Electrical Distribution Math<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Basic math operations related to electrical distribution. Includes the review of basic math, solving and converting, basic<br />

EUT 104 Overhead and Underground Systems, Hardware, and Equipment<br />

4 cr. hrs. 5 periods (3 lec., 2 lab)<br />

Procedures for working in the overhead and underground distribution components. Includes pole hardware, overhead<br />

conductors, porcelain and polymer equipment, overhead transformers, underground equipment installation, electrical<br />

utility disciplines, and safety.<br />

3 cr. hrs. 4 periods (2 lec., 2 lab)<br />

Overview of the theories and devices used to measure electricity. Includes electric utility metering terminology, Blondel’s<br />

theorem, kilowatt-hour meter operating principles, single-phase and network meters, wiring connections for mounting<br />

devices, voltmeter, voltage indicator, and ammeter usage, and Direct Current (DC), and Alternating Current (AC), circuits.<br />

EMT 089 Skills Reinforcement for EMT 100<br />

Overview, techniques, and skills for pre-hospital emergency response. Includes equipment operations, communication,<br />

documentation, packaging, and patient assessment.<br />

Recommendation: Concurrent enrollment in EMT 100.<br />

Information: Course supplements lecture time and laboratory experience for EMT 100.<br />

EMT 090 National Registry Skills Preparation<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Introduction to the practical portion of the EMT-B National Registry Skills stations. Includes introduction to the six stations<br />

required for EMT-B certification. Also includes opportunity to serve as a patient in medical and trauma scenarios, and to<br />

practice hands-on assessment with other students.<br />

Recommendation: <strong>Design</strong>ed for students enrolling in EMT 100 the following semester.<br />

Information: Prepares students to serve as patients for National Registry testing.<br />
