EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY<br />

EMT 170 ALS Operations<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Introduction to skills necessary to assess, extricate, and care for victims of crash incidents. Includes exposure to scene<br />

management skills to include size-up, disentanglement, victim stabilization for single and multi-victim situations,<br />

hazardous materials incidents, integration of local emergency medical services (EMS) for patient assessment and<br />

management, and standard operating procedures to selected victim scenarios.<br />

Information: Acceptance into the ALS training program is required before enrolling in this course.<br />

EMT 180 EMT Review - Theory and Practice<br />

6 cr. hrs. 8 periods (4 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Comprehensive review of the knowledge and skills required by certified emergency services professionals. Includes basic<br />

preparation, airway, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma, special populations, and operations. Also includes<br />

a variety of enrichment activities.<br />

Information: Should be taken in conjunction with EMT 100.<br />

EMT 180A EMT Review - Theory and Practice Module A<br />

3 cr. hrs. 4 periods (2 lec., 2 lab)<br />

Comprehensive review of the knowledge and skills required by certified emergency services professionals. Includes basic<br />

preparation, airway, patient assessment, and medical emergencies, trauma, special populations, and operations. Also<br />

includes a variety of enrichment activities.<br />

Information: Should be taken in conjunction with EMT 100.<br />

EMT 180B EMT Review - Theory and Practice Module B<br />

3 cr. hrs. 4 periods (2 lec., 2 lab)<br />

This course provides a comprehensive review of the knowledge and skills required by certified emergency services<br />

professionals. Includes trauma, special populations, and operations. Also includes a variety of enrichment activities.<br />

Information: Should be taken in conjunction with EMT 100.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

EMT 205 ALS Pharmacology and Medication Administration<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3.25 periods (2.75 lec., .5 lab)<br />

Elements of pharmacological agents and their administration. Includes basic pharmacological background and actions of<br />

drugs, regulations, human body systems, and pharmacokinetics. Also includes medications for patient in an emergency<br />

setting, and pharmacological mathematics.<br />

EMT 214 ALS Advanced Special Considerations<br />

2.5 cr. hrs. 3 periods (2 lec., 1 lab)<br />

Advanced life support skills approach to emergency care of the emotionally disturbed. Includes emotional aspects,<br />

approach to the patient, and psychiatric emergencies. Also includes techniques of management and demonstration of skills<br />

within a simulated hospital environment.<br />

EMT 218 Paramedic National Registry Preparation<br />

3.5 cr. hrs. 6 periods (1 lec., 5 lab)<br />

Review and preparation in standards of paramedic emergency care at the state and national levels. Includes developing<br />

testing skills and questions related to assessment, analysis, intervention or evaluation. Also includes each component of<br />

the Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic National Standard Curriculum.<br />

EMT 219 ALS Foundations<br />

1.5 cr. hrs. 1.75 periods (1.25 lec., .5 lab)<br />

Introduction to the Advanced Life Support (ALS) career field. Includes roles and responsibilities, Emergency Medical<br />

Services (EMS) components, well being, illness and injury prevention, ethics, medical and legal considerations.<br />

EMT 221 ALS Airway and Ventilation<br />

1.5 cr. hrs. 2 periods (1 lec., 1 lab)<br />

Techniques for establishing and/or maintaining a patient airway. Also includes anatomy and physiology, age specific<br />

techniques and procedures, introduction to respiratory pharmacology and respiratory drug profiling.<br />
