Continuation of ART 160. Includes intermediate handbuilding techniques and methods of fabrication, wheel throwing and<br />

trimming, projects involving formal elements, intermediate ceramic techniques, ceramic artist research, and discussion<br />

and exploration topics.<br />

ART 265 Furnace Glassblowing I<br />

Introduction to the elements, tools, and basic principles of furnace glassblowing. Includes the glassblowing studio and cold<br />

working shop orientation, paperweights and solid glass forms, the blowpipe, cold working glass, a final project, and visual<br />

literacy and critical analysis.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ART 100.<br />

ART 271 Metalwork II: Smithing and Casting<br />

3 cr. hrs. 5 periods (2 lec., 3 lab)<br />

<strong>Design</strong> and production of aesthetic and functional objects. Includes hot and cold forging, raising, forming, and casting<br />

using various metals such as copper, silver, bronze, steel, iron, and aluminum.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ART 170.<br />

ART 280 Weaving II<br />

3 cr. hrs. 5 periods (2 lec., 3 lab)<br />

Continuation of ART 180. Includes advanced study for students experienced on multi-harness looms. Students may select<br />

areas of interest for in-depth exploration.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of ART 100 is recommended before enrolling in this course.<br />
