ART 232 Digital Photography II<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Continuation of ART/DAR 128. Includes intermediate digital cameras with manual functions, intermediate digital darkroom<br />

and digital output, quality of light, intermediate image composition, multiple images, intermediate portfolio development,<br />

and critical analysis. Also includes the intermediate use of state-of-the-art professional quality computers and image<br />

processing software, professional digital cameras, printers, and a lighting studio with professional lighting equipment.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ART/DAR 128.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of DAR 221 before enrolling in this course.<br />

Information:<br />

Same as DAR 232.<br />

Students must own or have access to a digital camera with manual exposure control and a computer with image<br />

processing software. Cameras and professional quality computers and software will be provided during the course.<br />

Professional quality cameras, printers, lighting equipment and studio will be provided for specific assignments. There may<br />

be additional supply costs in addition to course fees. The prerequisite may be waived for basic skills in digital<br />

photography. See a ART/DAR digital photography instructor for prerequisite information.<br />

ART 233 Digital Photography III<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Continuation of ART/DAR 232. Includes digital capture and image acquisition, advanced digital darkroom and digital<br />

output, advanced image composition, advanced multiple images integration, advanced portfolio development, and<br />

advanced critical analysis. Also includes the advanced use of state-of-the-art professional quality computers and image<br />

processing software, professional digital cameras, scanners, printers, and projectors.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ART/DAR 232 and DAR 221.<br />

Information:<br />

Same as DAR 233.<br />

ART 246 Lighting for Photography II<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Continuation of ART/DAR 146. Includes lighting and equipment for studio and location, advanced lighting qualities and<br />

techniques, photographing with mixed light sources, lighting for mood and environment, set design and construction,<br />

photographing individuals and groups of people, photographing on location, photographing for montage images, advanced<br />

image composition, critical analysis, business practices, and portfolios.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ART/DAR 146.<br />

Information: Students are strongly recommended to own or have access to a digital camera with manual exposure<br />

control and a computer with image processing software. Professional quality cameras, computers and software, printers,<br />

lighting equipment and studio will be provided specific assignments. There may be additional supply costs in addition to<br />

course fees. Same as DAR 246.<br />

ART 248 Individual Projects in Photography<br />

3 cr. hrs. 5 periods (2 lec., 3 lab)<br />

Individual projects in photography at the advanced level. Includes defining a body of work, applying visual presentation<br />

formats, editioning a print, and equipment and technical photographic skills.<br />

Information:<br />

Consent of instructor is required before enrolling in this course.<br />

May be taken four times for a maximum of twelve credit hours.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

ART 249 Artists’ Books<br />

3 cr. hrs. 5 periods (2 lec., 3 lab)<br />

Introduction to the basics of the various styles of bookmaking. Includes historical and contemporary practices,<br />

bookbinding techniques, book styles, materials, text and image, unique and multiple edition book runs, and critique of<br />

artists’ books.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of ART 100 before enrolling in this course.<br />

ART 250 Gallery and Museum Practices<br />

3 cr. hrs. 5 periods (2 lec., 3 lab)<br />

Introduction to practices and procedures of galleries and museums. Includes management of student gallery spaces on<br />

campus. Also includes community involvement with local business.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of ART 100 before enrolling in this course.<br />
