AUT 142 Automotive Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning<br />

Diagnosis and repair of automotive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Includes personal and<br />

environmental safety, HVAC systems components, air conditioning (AC) diagnosis and repair, refrigeration system<br />

component diagnosis and repair, heating and engine cooling systems diagnosis and repair, operating systems and controls<br />

diagnosis and repair, and refrigerant recovery, recycling, and handling.<br />

AUT 170 Structural Analysis and Repair<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Structural collision repair of automotive vehicles. Includes frame inspection and repair, Unibody inspection, measurement<br />

and repair, fixed glass, and metal welding and cutting.<br />

Non-structural collision repair of automotive vehicles. Includes preparation, outer body panel repairs, replacements and<br />

adjustments, metal finishing and body filling, moveable glass and hardware, metal welding and cutting, and plastics and<br />

adhesives.<br />

heating and air conditioning, cooling systems, drive train, fuel, intake and exhaust systems, and restraint system.<br />

AUT 173 Painting and Refinishing<br />

4 cr. hrs. 6 periods (2 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Collision repair preparation, mixing, and applying paint. Includes safety precautions, surface preparation, spray gun and<br />

related equipment operation, paint mixing, matching and applying, paint defects—causes and cures, and final detail.<br />

AUT 185 Automotive Shop Skills Application<br />

.5-3 cr. hrs. 1.5-9 periods (1.5-9 lab)<br />

Light line diagnosis and repair of daily use vehicles. Includes preparing repair orders, complaint procedures, researching<br />

service data, vehicle service and repair tasks, and shop maintenance. Also includes the industry standard of complaint,<br />

cause, and correction.<br />

Information: Completion of an AUT prefix course in the same specialty area and approval of automotive department chair<br />

or instructor is required before enrolling in this course.<br />

tools. Also includes layout methods and structural repair processes.<br />

Recommendation: Completion of mathematics assessment above MAT 082 before enrolling in this course.<br />

AVM 102 Structural Repair II<br />

Continuation of AVM 101. Includes safety, bend allowance, layout, fasteners, machine usage, patching techniques and<br />
