PAR 208 Domestic Relations and Family Law<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Law and procedures related to family relationships and domestic matters. Includes basic principles of family law, marital<br />

contracts, legal issues in family law affecting children, initiating a divorce proceeding, contested proceedings, and assisting<br />

at a dissolution trial.<br />

Prerequisite(s): PAR 101.<br />

PAR 209 Bankruptcy Procedures<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Application of legal procedures in bankruptcy. Includes jurisdiction, cast of characters and their roles in bankruptcy, client<br />

interview, evaluation of options, advising client, and drafting Chapter 7 liquidation, Chapter 13 adjustment of debts of<br />

individuals, Chapter 12 adjustment of debts of family farmer, Chapter 11 reorganization, and the paralegal’s role.<br />

immigration, social security, and environmental law.<br />
