AVIONICS TECHNICIAN TRAINING<br />

ATT 204 Glass Cockpit Installer<br />

5 cr. hrs. 7 periods (3 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Installation of glass cockpit systems. Includes panel installation, functional checks, troubleshooting, installation and<br />

handling practices for Multifunction Display Units (MFD), Primary Flight Displays (PFD), and Engine Indicating and Crew<br />

Alerting Systems (EICAS). Also includes glass cockpit upgrade training, to include the removal of older “steam” gauges<br />

and various other indication instruments and replace them with modern glass cockpit indicating systems.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ATT 103, and 200.<br />

Information: Additional self-paced independent course study materials are required for non-certified Airframe and<br />

Powerplant students.<br />

ATT 205 Operating Systems III, Infrared and Weather Radar<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Principles of operation and usage by flight crews (demonstrated through a flight simulator). Includes installation planning,<br />

electrical system requirements, typical mounting, wiring methods, connectors and antenna installation. Includes system<br />

integration, functional testing of Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS), Weather (Wx) Radar, and radio altimeter systems. Also<br />

includes the coverage of the operation, installation, troubleshooting and safety training of EVS systems.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ATT 101, and 102.<br />

Information: Additional self-paced independent course study materials are required for non-certified Airframe and<br />

Powerplant students.<br />

ATT 206 Infrared and Weather Radar Installation<br />

5 cr. hrs. 7 periods (3 lec., 4 lab)<br />

Installation of typical Weather Radar, Radio Altimeter Systems and Enhanced Vision Systems. Includes schematic usage,<br />

special tooling and equipment, switching, circuit protection, instrument panel features for modification for installation.<br />

Includes standard wiring and installation practices of stand alone and integrated avionic devices and multifunctional<br />

display equipment. Also includes a mandatory requirement that all installed equipment be functional tested after<br />

installation of equipment.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ATT 103, and 205.<br />

Information: Includes an emphasis on one-on-one system operation, testing, and troubleshooting techniques, from<br />

technicians that are trained on the aircraft systems. Additional self-paced independent course study materials are<br />

required for non-certified Airframe and Powerplant students.<br />

ATT 207 Operating Systems IV, Special Navigation Equipment<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Operation and installation for Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWS), Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems<br />

(TAWS), and Traffic and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS). Includes schematic usage, special tooling and equipment,<br />

switching, circuit protection, instrument panel features for modification and installation. Also includes standard wiring and<br />

installation practices of stand alone and integrated avionic devices and multifunctional display equipment.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ATT 101, and 102.<br />

Information: Includes an emphasis on one-on-one system operation, testing, and troubleshooting techniques from<br />

technicians that are trained on aircraft systems. Additional self-paced independent course study materials are required<br />

for non-certified Airframe and Powerplant students.<br />

ATT 208 Special Navigation Equipment Installation<br />

5 cr. hrs. 7 periods (3 lec., 4 lab)<br />

ATT 209 NCATT - AET Additional Ratings Exam Preparation<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Preparation for the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training-Aircraft Electronics Technician (NCATT-AET) examination<br />

additional ratings including advanced weather equipment, Enhanced Synthetic Vision (EVS). Includes general obstacles to<br />

taking the additional ratings for the NCATT-AET navigation (Nav) and communication (Com) ratings.<br />

Prerequisite(s): ATT 105.<br />

Information: Current Natina; Center for Aircraft Technician Training - Aircraft Electronics Technician (NCATT-AET)<br />

certification is required prior to enrolling in this course.<br />
