FAW 138F2 Yoga II<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Continuation of FAW 138F1. Includes key components of yoga, essential and complex movements and postures, mindbody<br />

practice, and personalizing one’s practice.<br />

Prerequisite(s): FAW 138F2.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is designed for students who have begun to establish a personal home practice and involves a deepening of<br />

the foundations established in Yoga I with more challenging postures, breathing techniques, length of sequences of skills,<br />

meditation, and philosophy.<br />

There are many styles of yoga and the specific philosophy offered in a given section will reflect that of the instructor and<br />

may differ slightly from other Yoga II instructors.<br />

Prerequisite(s) may be waived with consent of instructor.<br />

FAW 138F3 Yoga off the Mat<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Development of an individual yoga practice appropriate for individuals in the workplace, and/or for those with limited<br />

mobility, without using floor mats, to optimize performance, manage stress and increase health and well being. Includes<br />

key components of Yoga, adapting essential movements and postures, mind-body practice, and personalizing one’s<br />

practice.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course will be taught in a traditional classroom setting to simulate the workplace environment.<br />

Students may participate in street clothes.<br />

Postures may include sitting or standing as physical abilities allow.<br />

FAW 148F1 Golf I<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Fundamentals of golf intended for the novice or player with limited experience. Includes emphasis on grips, stance, swing,<br />

shot selection, putting, rules, and etiquette of the game. Also includes key components of each shot, essentials for game<br />

play, and game management.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

A required range and/or course fee will be payable to the golf course.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring.<br />

FAW 148F2 Golf II<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Continuation of FAW 148F1. Includes review of the fundamentals, key components of each shot, essentials for game play,<br />

and game management.<br />

Prerequisite(s): FAW 148F1.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

A required range and/or course fee will be payable to the golf course.<br />

This course is intended for golfers with some experience or who play regularly and wish to refine physical skills and<br />

mental strategies to improve performance.<br />

Prerequisite(s) may be waived with consent of instructor.<br />

Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.<br />

FAW 151 Pickle-Ball<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Fundamentals of Pickle-Ball, a shortened court variation of tennis and badminton played with paddles. Includes key<br />

components of Picke-Ball, fundamental stroke development, and game management.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three credit hours.<br />

This course is intended for skill development and recreational play and is similar to, but requires less court coverage<br />

than, tennis.<br />

Offered: May not be offered this year, check class schedule.<br />

FITNESS AND WELLNESS<br />

FAW 152 Racquetball<br />

1 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lab)<br />

Fundamentals of racquetball with emphasis on grips, stance, swing, serving, shot selection, court position, and etiquette.<br />

Includes key components of racquetball, fundamental stroke development, and game management.<br />

Information:<br />

May be taken three times for a maximum of three of three credit hours.<br />

This course is intended for skill development and recreational play.<br />

Students must supply their own racquets and safety glasses.<br />
