TDT 107 Basic Control<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1.5 periods (.5 lec., 1 lab)<br />

Building of skills required to maneuver a tractor-trailer. Includes engine start, instrument scan, proper gear start, steering<br />

position, mirror checks, rpm/range control, up shift progressive, down shift, double clutch, smooth braking, set parking<br />

brake, right hand turn, and left hand turn.<br />

TDT 108 Proficiency Development<br />

TDT 109 Extreme Driving Conditions<br />

Advanced techniques of control and safe driving. Includes uphill start and roll back, up and down hill upshift, up and down<br />

hill downshift, adverse condition, curve and passing control and hazard.<br />

TDT 110 Introduction to Externship<br />

1 cr. hrs. 1 periods (1 lec.)<br />

Overview and introduction to the operation of the company that will administer the externship of the trainee truck driver.<br />

Includes history of the company, company policies, and procedures for dispatch, payroll, insurance, requirements for<br />

logging, trip reporting, and paperwork.<br />

TDT 112 Preparation for the Commercial Driver License Exam<br />

5 cr. hrs. 5 periods (5 lec.)<br />

Information to prepare trainees to pass the Commercial Driver License exam and a Class A permit. Includes air brakes,<br />

pre-trip inspection, combination vehicle, and hazardous materials. Also includes information to manage speed effectively<br />

and respond to various road and weather conditions.<br />

TDT 113 Operation of a Tractor-Trailer<br />

perception, cargo handling, rules and regulations, hours of service, and trip planning and hours of service.<br />

TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING<br />

TDT 114 Inspect, Operate, and Safe Driving a Tractor-Trailer<br />

5 cr. hrs. 6 periods (4 lec., 2 lab)<br />

Basic skills to inspect and operate a tractor-trailer safely. Includes pre-trip inspection, backing, basic control, visual search,<br />

progressive shifting, and communication. Includes safe driving techniques while developing driving proficiency. Also<br />

includes space management, extreme driving, speed management, and hazard perception.<br />

TDT 116 Straight Truck and Bus Driver<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />
