Professional business principles and practices for the interior designer. Includes business action plan, business structure,<br />

professional services, design firm model, business principles, contractual relationships, and business correspondence.<br />

Prerequisite(s): IDE 111.<br />

Recommendation: Assessment in Mathematics at the MAT 086 level or higher before enrolling in this course.<br />

IDE 255 Space Planning II<br />

Continuation of IDE 155. Includes programming and planning review, advanced research and observation, advanced<br />

diagramming methods illustrating design concepts, advanced drafting including commercial interiors, measurement of<br />

human psychological and sociological factors, and presentations.<br />

Prerequisite(s): IDE 122, 155.<br />

Theories of human factors and environmental issues relating to interior design. Includes design problems, built<br />

Prerequisite(s): IDE 155.<br />

IDE 280 Interior <strong>Design</strong> Portfolio Development<br />

Identification of portfolio content. Includes project parameters, procedures and methods, portfolio content, and critique.<br />

Examination of the cultural values of the foreign country in comparison to those of the United States. Includes social and<br />

religious customs, roles of men and women, attitudes toward time, humor, drugs and alcohol, and patterns of<br />

communication. Also includes political, educational and legal structures, health care values, attitudes toward shopping and<br />

conducting business, business structure, ethics and values.<br />

ITP 105 Beginning Fingerspelling and Numbers<br />

2 cr. hrs. 2 periods (2 lec.)<br />

Enhancement of receptive and expressive sign language skills, methodology, theory, and application. Includes manual<br />

alphabet, numbers, basic monetary designations, basic mathematical functions, regional states, cities, and calendar<br />

designations. Also includes common acronyms, basic lexicalized fingerspelling, and history of fingerspelling.<br />

Prerequisite(s): SLG 102 and REA 075.<br />

Information: Additional lab hours are required outside of regularly scheduled class.<br />

ITP 200 Introduction to the Deaf <strong>Community</strong><br />

4 cr. hrs. 4 periods (4 lec.)<br />

Exploration of the history of American Sign Language (ASL), the deaf community, and the experiences of deaf individuals.<br />

Includes norms, values, traditions, and roles of social behaviors. Also includes cross-cultural interactions between deaf and<br />

hearing people. Students will also explore the history of the Deaf community, the history of deak education, issues in<br />

language and culture, and Deaf services and programming policies.<br />

Prerequisite(s): SLG 202 and WRT 102.<br />
