Techniques and skills for Photovoltaic (PV ) installers to size, design, and install solar panels. Includes an introduction to<br />

different types of mounting systems. Also includes site location of panels, orientation to house, shading at the site,<br />

weather, roof materials, soil and load bearing capacity.<br />

Concepts and procedures for building and construction electrical training. Includes safety, conduit bending, electrical<br />

Prerequisite(s): BCT 111, 112, 113, 114, and 115 or concurrent enrollment.<br />

Introduction to common types of piping, their proper fitting, fixtures, and distribution systems. Includes introduction to the<br />

plumbing trade and drawings, plastic, copper, cast-iron, and carbon steel piping, fixtures and faucets, introduction to<br />

drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) systems, and water distribution systems.<br />

Prerequisite(s): BCT 111, 112, 113, 114, and 115.<br />

Concepts and practices for plumbing. Includes offsets around obstructions, reading commercial drawings, installing and<br />

testing drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) piping system, installing roof, floor and area drains, and servicing various types<br />

of valves.<br />

Concepts and installation procedures for water service, fixtures, and appliances. Includes installing and testing water<br />

supply piping, fixtures, valves, and faucets; electrical applications; water heaters; fuel gas systems; and servicing of<br />

fixtures, valves, and faucets.<br />

BCT 184 National Electrical Code I<br />

3 cr. hrs. 3 periods (3 lec.)<br />

Requirements for the installation of electrical conductors, equipment, raceways, cables, and special occupancies. Includes<br />

introduction to the National Electrical Code, wiring and protection, wiring methods and materials, and equipment for<br />

general use.<br />

Prerequisite(s): BCT 172.<br />

Information: BCT 184 and 284 together is preparation for taking the National Electrical Code Certification exam.<br />
